柱子立起來的瞬間:容器 Hide The Shadow

SYLLABUS TOPIC: Architectural FORM as a construct of PLANES PROJECT: Analysis of, and Operations on, Ten Basic Forms 1. ANALYSIS: Identify 9 PURE forms (do not add random forms to make a new form) – each one corresponding to the number of planes in increasing number: 1-9 Each PURE form is differentiated into different CATEGORIES by the NUMBER of PLANES. Example: 1-PLANE form: Sphere, Egg, Torus , etc. 2-PLANE form: Cone, Double Cone (joined at the base), ½ Sphere, Sphere with a round hole cut through it, etc. 3-PLANE form: Cylinder, ½ Cone (cut along the vertical axis), etc 4-PLANE form: Pyramid with a Triangular Base, Cylinder with a round hole cut through its axis 5-PLANE form: Pyramid with a Square Base, etc. 6- PLANE form: Cube, Cone with a rectangular hole cut through, etc 7-PLANE form: Cylinder with a rectangular hole cut through its axis, etc 8-PLANE form: Cube with 2 round holes cut through it, etc 9-PLANE form: Cube with a triangular hole cut through it, etc. 10-PLANE form: Cube with a rectangular hole cut through it, etc Note that an “egg” and a torus (ring “donut”) are topologically the same FORM as the SPHERE. They all differ in appearance, but are the SAME FORM by virtue of being SINGLEPLANE forms.
2. Operations on Ten Basic Forms: An operation refers to a specific method by which a given form is changed. In our study, we will operate on forms in a RESTRICTED way so as to keep the SAME NUMBER of PLANES no matter how the actual form if changed.
Example 1: A SPHERE can be ELOGATED along one axis to form an OVOID (“egg”). Example 2: A CYLINDER can be operated on to become almost a CONE, by changing the size of the radius on one side only. 3. Operational Rules: All operations must be done using ONLY the following combinations… (1.) Angle: Bends and Rotations: 30, 45, 60, 90, 180, 360 (2.) Multiple of a given Unit: Expansion, Reduction, or Elongation: x1.5, x2, x3… up to x9
4. OBJECTIVE: Once you have a catalog of forms – in drawing and models - you will change the PROPORTION of each form to combine with all the other forms, so as to construct an ARCHITECTURALLY VIABLE form.
The Rules are seted up by Pro.Thomas Young Kyong Han. In this studio, we follow these rules to let our work easily pass to others and share.

Doing these several practice,we believe every form has their characteristic,and we look in to it,find their funtion,truely. For example: so far,I see those white form I created.It’s like several “Russian Mine�.Thus,I go to think there may be possible to have an architecture in a Russian mine,in many aspect.The architecture would be like alien to the mine.These typical architectural problem comes to a very interested project.

Migration type of motion
砂的表面,由於比熱高,所以恆常都是乾燥的,但是如果挖掘下去,下面必 定是濕潤的。無可置疑,那是表層的蒸發,造成了往上吸水的幫浦作用。

National Taiwan University was founded before the country. Most of the building was built around 1945-70’s. Those old building became a serious problem after the 1999 Jiji earthquake. Most building were made diagnosis. The result shows each need to have structural reinforcement operation. In this studio, we were supposed to design the structure, the interior, the whole building, one of Department of Forestry and Resource Conservation buildings. To make sure our design work,we assembled expert,cooperated with NTU Department of Civil Engineering students. Considering cold room(large refrigerator), the structure we came out to have a shear wall at the middle,also were the staircass,contenctions to upstaires, to the building back and the two side were boxes(cold room).In other words,we go for those boxes to lead our design further.

The street is so narrow that most of the sunlight is shaded by the building. Therefore, the light appears to be conspicuous. Constructing an 1:1 object that enables people who stand on the ground to interact with the light and skyline on the housetop.
