Weekly Report and Newsletter - 22nd July 2022 J36 Rural Auction Centre: Online Machinery Sale, Friday 8th July - Monday 11th July 2022. The monthly collective sale of tractors, vehicles, farm machinery, equipment and builders items, saw over 2000 lots sold, with over 500 successful purchasers from throughout the UK, Ireland and Eastern Europe. Tractors and farm vehicles sold to £12,700 for an 8T Hitachi Digger with a Bobcat - ex local farm - achieving £4800 and one of the first Matbro Telehandlers ever produced selling at £3500. Vehicles sold to £3100 for a Ford Transit van with an Iseki Garden Tractor achieving £2900 and a Clark 5T Forklift achieving £1600. 4x4 vehicles sold from £800 to £2200 at this sale with a wide variety on offer. Well maintained seasonal equipment continues to sell to a premium, with a Vicon 903 Tedder achieving £4800, a Marshall Silage Trailer £3400, a Reco Trailed Forage Harvester £3100 and a Lely 240 Mower Conditioner £2300. A large number of Toppers were forward selling to £880 for a Slewtic Side Topper. A large selection of trailers saw a 10T Marsden sell at £3400, a Red Rock Low Loader £2900, an Ifor Williams Livestock Trailer £2900 and an Ifor Williams Calf/Sheep Trailer £2700. Livestock equipment sold to £5700 for a Monsoon Sheep Shower, with a sheep Shearing pen at £500. Calf creep feeders sold to £480, a sheep dressing crate at £440. Other items of interest included a Catering Trailer selling at £2000, 20 Portable Cow Cubicles £820, a 2 wheeled horse cart £720, 5 Furrow Lenkin Plough £700, an Aerator £760, tractor mounted Log Splitter £640 and MTD Ride-on Mower £620. A large selection of builders tools, equipment and materials saw a Compressor achieve £840, Pillar Drill £800, Felder Multi-functional woodworking tool £540, crates of Burlingrton Slate £520 each , 200 wooden fence posts £480, Kilrush Diesel Pressure Washers £480, JCB 2.4T Breaker £400 PTO Cement Mixer £340 and an anvil and stand £300. Lancaster Auction Mart: Weekly Sale of Prime Lambs and Cast Sheep, Monday 18th July 2022. Prime Lambs A sharper trade for prime lambs in Lancaster this morning with an entry of 700 forward averaging 291p/kg. Weight continues to be in bring demand and adding up well. The trade peaked today at £158 twice from RC


Billington & Son, Claughton on Brock with Texel lambs weighing 58kg and 51kg with 50kg lambs from the same home to £151. Other leading prices for Texel lambs were £155 and £150 from T & H Drinkall, Oakenclough with others to £153 from CP & V Cowgill, Bentham, £152 from KA Purtill, Wigan and £151 from RH & C Ayrton, Abbeystead. Heavy weight suffolks peaked at £157 from TM Townley, Over Wyresdale with 48kg Suffolk’s selling to £146 from Steph Cowgill, Bentham. Beltex lambs peaked at £149 or 340p/kg for the consignment from JS Horner, Ingleton with other lambs from the same home selling to £148. Plenty of pens sold in the one hundred and forties today. A good run of Mule and Masham lambs forward today from S & J France, Over Wyresdale sold 48kg Mules to £132 and Mashams at 43kg to £122.50. Mules at 37kg sold to £96 from AC & P Pye, Abbeystead. Prime Lambs Prime Lambs at J36 top at £192 The weekly sale of prime lambs at J36 Rural Auction Centre saw an increased entry of 1332 forward today. Those who have fed and finished their lambs with some weight have been finically rewarded in J36 today, as weight continues to pay with 45kg to 52 kg lambs averaging up at 287p/kg. The market peaked at £192 for a heavy weight Suffolk cross lamb from Helen Newton, Low Levens whom also sold heavy weight Texel lambs too £162. Calves & Weanlings A few less calves for today with farmers taking advantage of the fine weather to get field work done. Sale peaked at £440 for a Charolais x heifer calf from WG Farms Ltd, Cockerham who sold others regularly at £405-£425. British Blue calves (5weeks old) sold to £400 and £395 from Tom Barron Farms Ltd, Preston who sold younger sorts to £290-340. Native sired calves today sold to £300 for a month old Aberdeen Angus x bull from JT&B Fox, Quernmore with others to £275-£290. Young heifer calf’s sold to £215 from JT&B Fox, Quernmore with others at £210 from Tom Barron Farms Ltd, Preston. Stirks A large crowd of buyers were in attendance at the popular monthly sale keen to secure all classes and types of stirks, many leaving unable to fulfil orders. Vendors left today sales well suited with prices achieved.


The sale peaked at £850 for a 10 month old Charolais x steer from D&J Hay, Cockerham closely followed by a pen of 9/ 10 month old Aberdeen Angus x steers achieving £830 from G & D Ball, Little Eccleston with another Aberdeen Angus x achieving £830 R&J Parkinson. British Blue x steers sold to £800 from JE Harrison. With other younger 7/8 Charolais x steers achieving £790 again from D&J Hay, Cockerham who sold Fleckiveh to £780. A ring full of proper Friesian steers 8/10 month old from R&J Parkinson sold at £690. Bull stirks sold to £580 for a Holstein Friesian from WG Farms Ltd, Cockerham, with a 6 monthly old bf from EE Thornton & Son, Morecambe selling at £560.
