NIWA HOUSE

[1] Niwa house / 庭の家

The NIWA house is designed for extended family. NIWA means courtyard in japanese. The first floor is the pottery studio and classroom. The second and third floor is housing. It is quite common that residential and commercial mixed-use on the house in Taiwan. The extended family is common in the aging society in Taiwan.

To deal with the problem for different generations, space is separated vertically. The core of the house is courtyard and it is the public space to gather people.

Site Plan NIWA house is located in the residential zone in Taichung city. As the night market and the university is near the house, how to create a space without disturbance by tourists is an important issue.

[4] The path of shadow

Through the observation of the whole Zhong Qin Building, translated elements such as light and shadow into my model.

And there are crevices on my models. Those crevices create the diversity of the space and layers.

[5] The vidigal house

Segment

The project imitated the design strategy of Peter Eisenman to approach the architecture and developed the architecture model

Rotation

through the evolving notion of form. The Vidigal House is social housing in Vidigal Favela in Brazil. It provides residents with an affordable house

Intersection

and an educational facility such as the library. Intersection &

Rotation

Rotate two cubes and use the intersection space as a library of the community.

Use cardboard to create structure. Each unit of the cube is residential space.

The floor levels are staggered and these split levels are public space.

[6] The circle villa

The circle villa is a private villa located at the Sunmoon Lake. By experimenting with the geometry on the floor plan and the relationships between the environment to create a special space for the villaĘźs owner.

Made by a big circle and three different squares, the villa is separated into three main functions. The concrete wall and brick wall follow the circle shape of the water channel. At the center of the villa is a fireplace for the public using and also connects to the kitchen. For the view of the Sunmoon Lake and mountains, there is an opening on the concrete wall.

[7] The root / Pavilion

Providing a place for students to relax, we design a bench under the tree in campus. There is an original big stair designed for extra seats but without students using it. The root bench is also a kind of sign to point out the direction to the big stair.
