Your backyard camping companion Well, no use in being stuck at home with nothing to do, right? That’s why we’re here! ODR has some great activities you can do at home and outdoors to ensure your making the best of your free time. This guide provides various ideas, tricks, and tips to keep you busy and expand your knowledge on all things outdoorsy and fun!

make a homemade fire starter *Please ensure you have an adult supervising at all times near fire. Fires shouldn’t be handled by those under the age of 18.

Supplies: • 2 Toilet Paper Tubes • Dryer Lint • Reynolds Wax Paper Directions:

1. Cut toilet paper tubes in half. 2. Stuff a chunk of dryer lint inside the tube and wrap in wax paper, twisting the ends. 3. Place the fire starter inside a designated fire spot and add crumpled newspaper, kindling and wood. 4. Light the end of wax paper and watch as your fire takes off.

nature collage & journal Supplies: • 2 equal pieces of Contact Paper • Leaves, Flowers, Etc • Scissors • Scotch Tape Directions:

1. Go on a nature walk and have your child collect flowers, leaves, and other bits of nature. You will need a lot for the collage. 2. Peel off one of the backings to the contact paper and tape it (sticky side out) to a wall or big window. 3. Have your child press the objects into the sticky paper. 4. Once he/she is finished, peel off the backing of the other piece of contact paper and press it over the collage. Press out any wrinkles. 5. Cut around the outside until all of the sides are even.

how to make perfect s’mores! Tips courtesy of one of our favorite movies: “The Sandlot” 1. First, you take the graham. 2. You stick the chocolate on the graham. 3. Then, you roast the mallow. 4. When the mallows flaming, you stick it on the chocolate and cover it with the other end. 5. Then, you scarf!

leaf rubbing

Supplies: • Different sizes and shapes of tree leaves (maple, oak, hackberry, mulberry, ginkgo) • Colored paper • Crayons

Directions: 1. Put a leaf upside down on the table. 2. Place a piece of paper over the leaf. 3. While holding the paper and leaf in place, use the side of a crayon to rub across the leaf. 4. Make sure that you color over the entire leaf. Rubbing firmly all over the leaf will show the veins and the outline of the leaf. 5. A dark crayon will produce a clearer print of the leaf. 6. Do another leaf with different color crayon. Try a few leaf rubbings below:
