In these troublesome days we are in, we can know that God is at work for good. Many could ask, “What good?” Recently, my husband and I attended a “Celebration of Life” service for a pastor friend. As the nurses were caring for Larry, he told them, “I am going soon to Heaven. The only way to get there is to receive and believe by faith in Jesus Christ as Lord and Savior.” Our friend continued to declare the Good News of Jesus Christ. The Romans 8 passage is an encouragement when God’s children endure suffering. Jesus said there would be trouble in the life of the believer. God will bring good out of all affliction, trials, persecution and suffering. In the beginning, God had a destiny for each one of us and that was that we would be conformed to the likeness of Christ.Ina discussion several years ago, someone offered the solution to our nation’s troubles: “the government will work it out.” Really?? When God’s Word says, “all things” it does not include our sins and negligence. We can’t excuse sin away by maintaining that “God will work it out for good.” God’s promise to work for the good is limited to those who love God and have submitted to Him through faith in Jesus Christ, and committed themselves to Him with heartfelt devotion. Furthermore, this refers to the corpo rate body of Christ, the Church, which includes individ uals as they identify themselves with this body through a living faith in Christ and union in Christ. We need each other.During the time of your suffering, trouble or trial, focus on Jesus, and let Him renew and refresh you in His Pres ence. Pray believing that God will turn it around. He’s done it before and He’ll do it again. We eagerly anticipate the time when God will wipe away every tear, and there will be no more death, sorrow, pain, and unhappiness. 21:4) is God working for good “in all things”!

The primary mission of the North Cen tral Missouri Development Alliance (NCMDA) is to foster economic and com munity growth to retain and attract busi ness and enhance the overall quality of life in the region. Beginning in 2017, NCMDA started as a need to develop a public/pri vate organization for economic devel opment and is funded by the City of Trenton, Grundy County, and several local businesses and individuals that believe in the program. Both the city and county have representation on the NCMDA Board of Directors. NCMDA assists with start-up business planning and existing businesses in the area. It also maintains a current inventory of commercial, industrial, and retail property and building stock to match a project with the right property should an opportunity for expansion or a new business presents itself. NCMCA Director Scott Sharp com municates with city and county officials about upcoming economic development policy changes and funding opportunities from state and federal agencies and other funders.Scott is also actively involved in the community. “I really enjoy being more in volved in the community building organi zations such as Rotary, Chamber of Commerce, Bright Futures, TDIA Main Street program, Country Club Board, North Missouri Tourism Commission, and the North Central Missouri Business Fa cilitation team,” said Scott. “Building a strong economy in a rural community starts with citizens that know each other and work to help where they can. With all these organizations, the positive thread is engagement and several people sharing the load in leadership roles. I’ve figured out that if there is a need and someone to point out that need, people will often step up to help.”Scott said, “When I accepted this job, someone told me, ‘You have to be Mr. Trenton.’ What that meant was I must keep my finger on the pulse of activity and be able to answer questions about what is going on. That is often about new busi nesses on the horizon, but many times about general information regarding the city and Recently, county.”Scott started quarterly Com munity Assets meetings to get groups to gether from the City of Trenton, Grundy County, IDC board, and NCMC. The goals of these meetings are to keep communica tion between these groups and to work to gether to break down and solve problems in the community. At each meeting, an economic development strategy is dis cussed, and an update on current economic development projects is provided. In the future, Scott would like to add in dustrial space. The current Industrial Park is 169 acres and reaching its capacity limits. Scott said, “I know that if we add space, it won’t fill immediately, but it’s an investment in the future to increase taxes and utility usage in town. Also, our infras tructure has a lot of growing room in elec tric, water, and wastewater systems. We should capitalize on the investments we have made in that infrastructure. Often most of the growth communities see is in retention projects. There is a lot of poten tial growth in companies we already have in our Scottcommunity.”wouldalso like to see NCMDA services growing to the surrounding counties. Scott said, “There was a time when all the towns in our region could count on its citizens to support their econ omy, but we are learning that if we are going to see the growth, it is going to be through a regional effort.” Scott went on to say, “ There is a marked difference be tween communities that focus on eco nomic development and communities that do not. Sustainability will have to stay at the top of the to-due list. We must keep funding organizations that focus on this issue. That includes my organization and every other community-building organiza tion in our region. It’s easy to complain about what we don’t have, but until we start investing in the future, that list of complaints will continue to grow.” For more information about the North Central Missouri Development Alliance, contact Director Scott Sharp at 660-6541511, or stop by his office in the Green Hills Regional Planning building at 810 Washington Street, Trenton, MO. Scott can also be reached at director@ncmdeve lopment.org.

Paschke • AP Surging inflation is forcing shoppers to trade down to cheaper brands to save money, a habit they embraced during the Great Recession Major retailers including Kohl’s, Target and others noted in recent earnings calls that shoppers are focusing on deals and switching to store label brands, which are typically cheaper than national brands. Walmart said that in the food category sales growth for private brands doubled in the fiscal second quarter from the previous period. Analysts expect that trend to continue through year-end and well into next year. That’s because even as falling prices for gas, airline tickets and clothes gave Americans a little bit of relief in July, overall inflation is still running at close to its highest level in four decades, according to the most recent government report. Grocery prices are 13% higher than a year ago, the largest year-over year increase since 1979 Data from NielsenIQ shows market share in dollars in private label consumer packaged goods increased to 18 6% in the second quarter of this year compared with 18% in the year ago period. Last Friday night, the Trenton Bulldogs defeated the Lathrop Mules to what some would say was an easy win.Even though the Bulldogs started of the game with the first penalty flag of the night, they went on to play a well fought game on both the de fensive and offensive sides. Starting out in the first quarter the Bulldogs won the coin toss choosing to defer and kick to the Mules. The Bulldogs held the Mules back not letting them get close to the 50-yard line be fore getting a hold of the ball and making their way down to the Withendzone.lessthen seven mi nutes in the first quarter La throp’s quarterback threw an interception to #7, Tucker Otto. Otto then helped his teammate #20, Sam Gibson, make a 28-yard run towards the endzone allowing #2, Gabe Novak, to make a 14few plays of the possession. Leaving the end of the first quarter with a 6-0 lead. The Bulldogs then exploded in the second quarter ending the half the score 28-0. The beginning of the second half started slowly as the Mules came out with a better idea of how to handle the Bull dogs. The Bulldogs still played an impressive de fense the entirety of the third quarter. This caused them to rally in the fourth with Novak having a twelve-yard touch down run in the first thirtysix seconds of the fourth quarter, making the score 35-0.At the end of the night the top three offensive players of the night were quarterback, #3 Coleman Griffin, Novak, andTheGibson.top three defensive players being defensive line man, #54 Tim Kempton, Griffin, and Otto. Griffin had a total of 28 passing yards and two interceptions under his belt. Trenton gained a total of 390 yards to Lathrop’s 75 to end the night.Tommorrow night Tren ton take on the Tigers of Princeton in Princeton at 7
