THE SINHALESE SPORTS CLUB GROUND (SSC),

THE LORDS OF SRI LANKA The Sinhalese Sports Club Ground (SSC) is one of the most famous cricket grounds in Sri Lanka. It is also the headquarters of Sri Lanka Cricket, the controlling body of cricket in Sri Lanka. The ground is sometimes described as "the Lords of Sri Lanka." It hosts the ďŹ nals of the domestic tournaments and is an important international cricket venue.

The Thoroughbreds was the brainchild of a Royalist who joined hands with a Thomian of his vintage and inaugurated the tent in 2010 with the help of other key members of both Schools. The driving force behind Royalist Jehan CanagaRetna and Thomian Amal de Mel launching the tent was that there were difficulties in getting into tents such as the Stallions, Colts and Stables due to the restrictions on the number of new members. Therefore, in order to ease the problem for Old Boys of both Schools, the Thoroughbreds was formed to accommodate individuals from both Schools, aged 40 years and above. Since the inception of the tent, the Thoroughbreds has been a trendsetter. It has been the initiator and introducer of various new and exciting additions to Royal Thomian Tent activity. This has been greatly appreciated by the membership. Today, its 800 plus members, comprising corporate leaders, stewards of industry, and opinion leaders identify the Thoroughbreds as a point of business connections, social engagement and vibrant networking. In keeping the “Brand” of the Thoroughbreds active throughout the year, the Committee has also organized other events to entertain its membership and friends by organizing an Oktoberfest and a South East Asian Food Festival. This too was another ﬁrst for a tent at the Royal Thomian. We also have an active annual social responsibility program that provides puriﬁed drinking water to schools in rural Sri Lanka, in a sustainable manner. To date, the Thoroughbreds have set these sustainable drinking water solutions to schools in Ratnapura, Giribawa and Wilpattu. Finally, the Thoroughbreds have made an annual contribution to both Royal College and St. Thomas College, every year since 2010. The Thoroughbreds will be celebrating its 10th year anniversary at the 2019 Royal Thomian Cricket encounter. As always, plans are in place to make it a memorable event. Currently, the Committee consists of 16 members, 8 from each School, led by the two Co-Presidents.

ASSOCIATION OF

SSC AND THOROUGHBREDS The Association of SSC and Thoroughbreds goes back to the inception of the Thoroughbreds in 2010. While the Thoroughbreds Committee worked primarily with the Royal Thomian Match Organizing Committee in planning details related to the tentâ&#x20AC;&#x2122;s activities at each match, the Committee also had a great deal of interaction with the SSCâ&#x20AC;&#x2122;s main Committee and other a officials. The collaboration of both parties (SSC and Thoroughbreds) enabled us to get our liquor license and the other necessary statutory approvals to run our Thoroughbred Tent each and every year. This was a major accomplishment since there were certain years when a number of tents at the Big Match were unable to secure the necessary liquor licenses. The SSC Committee has recognized the Thoroughbreds as a highly reputable Tent operator at the Big Match along with being a successful and growing brand and has agreed to team up with the Thoroughbreds to build a 3 storied building with a mezzanine level.

OUR PLANS We are looking to construct a 3 storied building with a mezzanine level that we expect to complete by September 2019. However, we will have the ground ďŹ&#x201A;oor ready for the match in March 2019. The proposal below will provide more clarity for our plan to have adequate square footage to host over up to 2,000 spectators along with four corporate boxes and a bar and lounge area.

COST AND CONSTRUCTION It is estimated that the cost of construction of the proposed Thoroughbreds structure will be approximately LKR 35 Million. The interior costs is estimated to be Rs. 15m. Thoroughbreds will secure the funding through Sponsorships. Thoroughbreds will engage the contractor and supervise the construction as per mutually agreed detail.

EXECUTIVE SUMMARY

The proposal sets out a broad framework of agreement to be established between Sinhalese Sports Club (SSC) and The Thoroughbreds (TB) for the construction of a multi-tier Spectator Stand in the western terrace of the Cricket Grounds at SSC and the sponsorship thereof.

LOCATION

The location of the proposed Thoroughbreds structure will be adjacent to the Sri Lanka Cricket Pavilion (on the left) on the western terrace, with an access gate to Maitland Crescent.

DIMENSIONS

The Plan area of the Tent Proposed is 30M (ground frontage) x 18.65M (depth).

DETAILS

Two Floors (Ground and First Floor), each with 560 Sq.Mtrs of ﬂoor area and a Mezzanine Floor with Glass Covering, covering a ﬂoor area of 275 Sq.Mtrs.

SPONSORSHIP PACKAGES OPTION 1 - RS.50 MILLION FOR 10 YEARS UPFRONT PAYMENT. Exclusive branding of the outside of the building for 10 years. Branding will be subject to approval for ICC arranged tournaments but all other Sri Lanka international matches and other such activity at the SSC grounds, the branding will remain with the original signed agreement. One Corporate Box for 10 years that can seat 20. Usage with prior approval of the bar and lounge area for private functions. Use of the Thoroughbredsâ&#x20AC;&#x2122; database with the approval of the Committee for email communications.
