In 1989, with the decision to further expand into the Asiatic region, Scanwell established new operations in the commercial capital and logistical hub – Colombo. Scanwell Logistics Colombo was established as an exclusive, independent agent – with services being decentralized through the port city office. The Colombo based office is now the center of operations for our branches in both Bangladesh and India – making it a strategic maneuver that has streamlined operations across the Neighbouring countries and within the region. Scanwell Logistics Colombo commenced operations with an expert team of 15 employees, who were fully dedicated to providing a dynamic portfolio of solutions. Now, after nearly three decades of operations we are recognised for our best ethical practices within the Sri Lankan freight industry. In addition, owing to the hard-work and prowess of 90 expert personnel, our shipment volumes continue to grow substantially each year, as our team of specialists plan and execute logistical solutions for importation and exportation of cargo which includes commodities such as; apparel, perishables, tea, coco peat and many more.

FREIGHT FORWARDING
With complex needs that arise in the movement of cargo, customers need a myriad of solutions which could be adapted to suit distinctive conditions and requirements. Scanwell Logistics Colombo provides service options that are structured on independent transit times, with a cost structure that’s competitive and structured to match solutions. We work with numerous ocean carriers under contractual agreements – that gives us a flexibility to provide customers with multiple service options in Ocean Freight services, offered at optimum rates prevalent in the market. Our shipment options cover excellent service lanes and connectivity to major lanes: and as a member of WCA (World Cargo Alliance) we are supplemented by a network of global forwarding agents – making us an unequivocal supplier of freight forwarding solutions.

For services in Air Shipping, Scanwell provides flexible options, extending services to match any transit time and even the smallest of cargo. Depending on the need, we arrange direct or deferred shipping options, at flexible costs. Fully accredited as an IATA agent we are associated with major airlines as well as numerous other small air carriers offering a global reach – into the farthest corners of the world.

BUYER’S CONSOLIDATION SERVICES Our Buyer’s Consolidation Services maintain an undisrupted flow in the movement of cargo – across shipping and inland distribution. By monitoring consignment/s in transit, we give customers control in managing inventory through information on the movement of merchandise from point of origin to its intended destination or customer’s facility.
TRANSSHIPMENT CARGO Scanwell Colombo plans and coordinates multi-country transshipment as well as Sea / Air shipments via Colombo, for consignments from Bangladesh, India, China and Pakistan. With reliability on speed being a guarantee, transshipment cargo is transported out of Colombo to its destination, within 48 hours.
Buyer’s and Companies benefit immensely from consolidation services, as freight costs and delivery charges are reduced as a direct result of bundled consignments procured from multiple vendors in a country or region.

BONDED WAREHOUSING
Scanwell Logistics is Sri Lanka’s first freight forwarder to initiate a bonded facility, which has now expanded to an area of 160,000 Sq.ft. – developed for the Apparel Industry - the highest export earning commodity in Sri Lanka. We provide consolidation services to customers of all industries with the exception of those in the apparel sector – as our consolidation services are only applicable for Fabric, Yarn, and Accessories intended for the export industry. With our bonded warehousing, customers are guaranteed of:

Fast and on-time deliveries, with a transport and pick-up timeframe of 24-36 hours after docking (ordinary LCL requires 3 or more days).

Immediate transportation of cargo and storage to our bonded warehousing facility from the docks – preventing room for pilferage: Handled by trained and highly experienced operations personnel, with no room for damages.

BRIDGE 2 PEACE
CORPORATE SOCIAL RESPONSIBILITY
As a corporate citizen we bear a sense of responsibility for the well-being of disadvantaged individuals in our communities. In fulfilling our obligations to the society, we have joined hands with Bridge 2 Peace – a registered non-profit organization formed as an immediate response to the devastation wreaked by the 2004 tsunami. Founded by Ms. Bernadine Anderson, the organization is supported by family and friends. Fundamentally, Bridge 2 Peace provides the rural communities in Lunugamvehera, Batticaloa and Diyathalawa with early childhood education, teacher training and vocational skills building programmes – structured to facilitate learning and empower children of impoverished families. Bridge 2 Peace has a keen awareness that education is imperative for building upstanding citizens and a just society. Therefore, they provide more children with access to education with the expectation that its long term impact will reverberate throughout the broader community; and with the hope that children will have a chance in life to live safely from exploitation. Their ultimate goal is to retain students by extending support to children and young people.
