About me i believe, architecture is to link our lives with the environment surrounded by us, and to further bond us together. to experience that, one has to travel with their own feet, see with their own eyes. therefore, i try to explore whenever i can. through painting, photography, words, architecture, i express my feelings toward the world. 1996 / 5 / 1 brendaliu0501@gmail.com Chinese / English / Turkish / German AutoCAD / SketchUp / Rhino / Revit / Photoshop / Illustrator / Lumion /

We provide an integrated cycling system in this living sphere, including inner and outer cycle:
Site Layout
Inner cylce The route between living and working is transformed into a corridor of recreation. Therefore commuting itself is the recreation. Outer cycle Using rainwater recycling system and aquaponics. The rain can be reused into urban farming. Thus creating an air filtering mechanism, edible food and reduction on energy waste.

urban farming & purification The Aquaponic provides self-sufficiency in food supply. The waste produced by fish is turned into plant nutrients to nurture plants. Then, the plants filter water that returns to the fish. Therefore, 90% less water is needed comparing to traditional agriculture but 10x crop produced. The botanical wall and ecological pond will gradually develope into an ecology purification mechanism. In order to improve the air and soil condition of this previous industrial district.

Boundaryless a field beyond religions 2019 Fall Ea3 studio instructor: ching huang ju
Due to Tamsui’s multi-layer history, It has become a place with multi religions. Churches and Temples in the community used to be the center of people’s life and belongings. Religions are like a wall, it gathers us within and gives us serenity. However,, it also between human.
draws
boundries In the free, decentralized, progressive society nowadays, independents who do not rely on religions has thus lose their place of belongings. and become anxious in this hustle and bustle city. Religions should be regard as wisdom of our ancestors. I see god’s almighty in Christianity. I see life’s inpermanance and mercy in humanity in Buddhism. and I see people’s mourn for their bygone motherland due to religious division in Judaism. But in the end, they are all myths, built to provide human peace and belongings. It shouldn’t be a boundry that causes division among human
site observation
The wall, as an structure of space seperation, can divide or gather people within. The streets and alleys in Tamsui provide dramatic scale difference hence different atmospheres were shown
Just like Pantheon, initially built to serve the Greek Gods, later on given to Christians as a church, and numerous great ancestors were burried and commemorate here. It has become a sacred place for all. Therefore,, I attempt to break the boundries and open the walls of the enclosed religions to make this place a sacred place that allows multi-religions and all to come. By combining community activities, people can find their belongings to this place.
Alley 1. Curiousďźš - gradually narrowed scale and enframed scenery inviting people to enter - suspended objects and different openings make people wander the stories behind - ambiguous 2. suspended space or extended space from walls, becoming a tranquil shelter away from the ground

Situating at the entrance of Tamsui’s historical district, our site is a cross border of many binary features. therefore, a buffer zone that allows two sides to exist cohesively has become a prior issue.

Connectiflow hostel design 2019 summer iah summer workshop held by archistart in lecce, italy first prize group partners: katarina ,moussa ben, laura,
In this project, we aim to redesign the site and to redefine its connection to the community and nature. San Cataldo is a charming place with hospitality and abundant nature. By using light material we let the fabrics flow with the wind, with the two systems we developed: wood frame and tent structure, we can present the fabric with the shape of the sea and the wind, also connect people together within the tent structure tied between the trees. We also redesign the route into one circulation so that people can be easily guided through our facade design and perspective view of structures. By doing so, we minimize our design and let nature speak and to be seen.

We recognized a fragmentation of the space inside the hostel, starting from the different volumes, to the difficulty of the definition of the outside area. We decided to define an element that could reorganize the different areas, achieving a sense of unity that now is missing. To do that we had been inspired by the context, which is characterized by strong winds and soft materials linked to the sea and nature: we defined a system of curtains that try to connect, redefine and create new spaces inside the hostel. Once the curtain redesigns the facade, once it becomes the new restaurant and bar area, linking together the previous volumes, once it creates the new spaces of workshop around the trees. The structure is made in wood and fabric, in this way we provide a dry technology, totally removable. The fabric recalls the movement of wind and sea, typical of San Cataldo.
The intervention provides a change in the main circulation, with the realization of a new square between the hostel and the current services: a new system of pavements in wood and stone tries to link the hostel to the natural reserve on the right side and to open it up to the seaside, redesigning the outer street.

in this workshop, we learned to design through grasshopper and further fabricate it through robotic arm. we used the robotic arm to process metal working. we designed a contoured spirals with rotated radial lines to create a ripple like pattern.
