The project began with a little spark of an urge for anything, and then it transformed into something great enough to reform people's daily life spaces. It was a maximization of desire. This site is located between the downtown and a dense living area, with the National Taichung Museum of Arts and the sky tree by Toyo Ito nearby. I started from a desire of stargazing. Later on I found out that it was all about lights, and have experimented several ways to control the light coming into spaces.

The design finds its template in the composition of cells. Each unit is an analog of a cell, and in nature cells form tissues, tissues form organs, and so on. It resembles the way how an individual is seen in society.

The project was to design a church for the neighborhood community. It was consisted of multiple programs and therefore a great practice. This site is located mainly on a hill at the end of a lane, sitting just next to several busy streets. I planned to deploy the programs on both sides of a diagonal line, which was the central part as the main chapel. Other volumes spreaded out in orthogonal directions in grids same as the lanes.

In this project, I aimed to created an interesting privatepublic relation of space according to directions and heights. The programs are arranged to be separated so that the users choose to go either up or down to reach spaces for church staffs(private) or open to the community(public). Besides, a public square is created at the end of the lane. It makes a great place for weekend markets and activities for both the church and the community.
