District Dialogue Bi-weekly news from the Laveen Elementary School District
January 22, 2016
Register your child for our Dual Language Immersion Program The Laveen Elementary School District is accepting pre-registrations for Paseo Pointe’s Dual Language Immersion program. When the district’s newest school opens in August 2016, it will offer Spanish immersion to incoming kindergartners and, possibly, first graders. Parents will have the option of placing their kindergarten-age students in a classroom where instruction takes place in English for half of the day and in Spanish the other half. If there is sufficient interest, the option will be available for first graders as well. The program will add a grade each year, so it will eventually be available K-8. While Paseo Pointe does have attendance boundaries, parents may open enroll their child. If you would like to pre-register your child for this program, complete the form.

Rogers Ranch receives large donation
Trailside Point’s Full STEAM Ahead project received a grant of $2,085 from the Lowe’s Charitable and Educational Foundation. Gifted teacher Betty Ehret’s Full STEAM Ahead project teaches the engineering design cycle. Funding from this grant will provide the everyday tools, materials, and supplies for weekly discovery and problem-solving STEAM activities for the students. Students will also have the opportunity to interact with university professors and engineering students as they compete against other Arizona engineering clubs.
Rogers Ranch received a $5,500 donation from SUNTEC Concrete Inc. in order to purchase a class set of Dash and Dot Robots. The Dash and Dots are programmable robots. The donation is a welcome addition to the school’s STEM program as more students will have the opportunity to learn how to code.
