Students walk through Tunnel of Hope

M.C. Cash Principal Lisa Sandomir, has been selected as a Rodel Exemplary Principal semifinalist by the Rodel Foundation of Arizona.

Sandomir was selected for this honor based on her leadership, student achievement, and passion for serving her school community.

As a follow up to this recogniSandomir tion, Rodel will visit to M. C. Cash later this month to interview Sandomir and key members of her team.

Rodel Exemplary Principals are selected for their demonstrated ability to lead schools to success by inspiring their staffs to develop a campus that is high achieving, safe, orderly and welcoming.

M.C. Cash celebrated Kids at Hope Day last week.

Parents and staff members gathered before school to build a Tunnel of Hope.

Students then walked through the tunnel on their way to class while their supporters offered words of encouragement to start the day.

Kids at Hope schools create an environment where all children experience success, no exceptions!

Raye, Wyatt are October’s Employees of the Month Employees of the month for October are Mrs. Cassie Raye, kindergarten teacher, and Mr. Julian Wyatt, guest teacher associate, both of Trailside Point.

Raye was recognized for ensuring all her students feel valued and appreciated. She has made many suggestions for enrichment activities and interventions to maximize students’ learning. Additionally, she created a co-ed running club for Trailside students to participate in official races across the valley. Her passion for education shows in everything she does.

Wyatt was recognized for always being available wherever and whenever he is needed at Trailside. He is a staple in the Trailside Point community and gives his time, energy, and spirit to the school. He is incredibly humble and treats everyone like a family member.

Raye Wyatt Laveen alum wins five medals

American Dream Academy a success!

Former M.C. Cash student Marco Mares, who currently attends Cesar Chavez High School, won five medals including three gold medals, a silver, and a bronze at Phoenix Union’s recent Academic Decathlon.

More than 200 students participated in the competition.

Cheatham celebrated the graduation of 38 parents from the American Dream Academy.

During the ceremony one parent spoke about how the program benefitted him. “Before coming to the American Dream Academy it seemed like educators spoke a different language, and I didn't know how the school systems worked. With the American Dream Academy I learned that kids are more successful when parents and teachers understand one another, and we're not expecting teachers to do all the work for our children I learned that by working together, we the parents with the teachers can make sure our children graduate from high school and are prepared for college,” said Gustavo Gutierrez Molina.

American Dream Academy is a program offered through Arizona State University to help families take charge of their children’s education.

Laveen seeks to help shelter animals Laveen’s Girls on the Run is doing a community project to benefit the Maricopa County Animal Care and Control Center.

They are seeking a number of donations including sheets, dog and cat toys, collars, and detergent to help out the animals until they can find forever homes.

Foundation selling commemorative t-shirts The Laveen Education Foundation is selling T-shirts to commemorate the two 1,000-year storms that hit the Laveen area in recent weeks.

The navy blue shirts note that the wearer survived two 1,000—year storms and includes the dates. The back features a large wave and school bus. Adult and youth sizes are available for $15 and $10, respectively.

Sizes M, L, and XL are available for immediate purchase at the Laveen Education Center. Special orders can also be placed.
