District Dialogue Bi-weekly news from the Laveen Elementary School District Business Services recognized The district’s Business Services Department was awarded the Association of School Business Officials International’s Certificate of Excellence in Financial Reporting for the 2014 fiscal year. This award honors school districts for excellence and best practices in financial reporting, transparency, and fiscal accountability. Receiving this award provides Laveen with expert feedback to continue to improve the quality of the Comprehensive Annual Financial Report while also improving the district’s bond rating. Finance Manager Anita Carlos accepted the award.

September 18, 2015 Two teachers are Rodel Exemplary Teacher Semifinalists

Two teachers in the Laveen District have been selected as semifinalists for the 2016 Rodel Exemplary Teacher award. Sarah Mikula from M.C. Cash and Christina Smith from Trailside Point will be visited by the Rodel team in the coming weeks to conduct classroom visits and personal interviews. Teachers selected for this award have significantly higher-than-normal levels of student achievement.

Fala, Beltran are August’s Employees of the Month Employees of the month for August are Mrs. Gloria Fala, Spanish Teachers at Vista del Sur, and Ms. Maira Beltran, Behavior Monitor at M.C. Cash. Fala brings to school each day a positive attitude, smiling face, and willingness to help and support both students and staff. Her reliability is unmatched and her optimism is contagious. As Vista's Spanish teacher she engages students in learning not only the Spanish language, but information about the cuisine, culture, customs, and traditions as well. It is very clear the students enjoy the experiences and opportunities she offers them. In addition to her tremendous work ethic in the classroom, Fala is a huge asset to the middle school team. She contributes valuably to team conversations and willingly takes on various tasks to ensure everything runs smoothly. Fala Beltran is an incredible supporter of the Laveen Elementary School District. She demonstrates this with her amazing positivity and constant upbeat attitude. Beltran is a champion for M.C. Cash School. She takes incredible pride in her work, and greets every task with 100% of her effort and ability. She has great attention to detail with data tracking and student records work. Beltran truly cares about the students and the staff. She regularly goes above and beyond to help in any manner that is needed. Beltran .

Special Needs Resource Fair a success The Laveen Elementary School District hosted a Special Needs Resource Fair on September 16. Representatives from numerous organizations met with families of special needs children to discuss the valuable resources available to them. Guest speakers were also on hand to inspire and instill hope for parents. The event was held in the Laveen School gym and was organized by Mari Herrera— Daniels, a parent of a special needs child and Laveen’s Student Services Department.

Phoenix company donates backpacks Desert Meadows received 35 backpacks filled with supplies that were purchased by the employees of Bonneville Media in Phoenix. Penny Bobince is a grandmother of a Desert Meadows student and an employee of Bonneville Media. She presented the gear to Principal Steve Preis.
