Footballing legend Bobby Moore, gave the nation its proudest moment in football history, when he captained the England team to World Cup victory in 1966. With a career spanning over two decades and a reputation as one of the best defenders in the world, Bobby Moore is a true sporting hero.

The world’s greatest footballers could not beat him, but sadly in 1993, at the age of just 51, Bobby died of bowel cancer. This year marks the 20th anniversary of Bobby’s death.

Bowel cancer is the second most common cause of cancer death in the UK. Thanks to research, more people are beating this disease than ever before and the chances of dying from bowel cancer have fallen by 30% since the Bobby Moore Fund was set up in 1993.

The Bobby Moore Fund was established by Stephanie Moore MBE in partnership with Cancer Research UK, to raise money to fund research into bowel cancer and increase awareness of the disease.

Research is vital to saving lives and this year the Bobby Moore Fund is launching a new campaign called ‘Make Bobby Proud’ to raise awareness of bowel cancer and to encourage people to fundraise for research to help beat this disease. The Bobby Moore Fund are thrilled to announce that Mitre are supporting this campaign.

BALL USAGE & SUITABILITY BALL CARE AND PRESSURE

BALL QUALITY AND SUITABILITY

Care should be taken when inserting the inflation needle into the ball to prevent damaging the valve and bladder. Mitre Glycerine should be used to allow the needle to be inserted smoothly. This is particularly important on initial inflation as the wall of the bladder can be punctured if the needle is pushed in too far before any air is pumped in.

PRO

The amount of pressure in a ball will significantly affect the performance and durability of the ball. Pressure should be checked regulary as not only do balls gradually lose air through the wall of the bladder, but temperature can also alter the pressure by 1 psi for every 10 C. The recommended pressure is printed on the ball and this should be checked regulary with a Mitre pressure gauge.

If the ball gets wet during play, it should be dried in an airy place and not force dried with heat as this may damage the ball.

DIFFERENT SURFACES

MATCH

ASTRO TURF

Mitre match balls are designed for all ages to perform at the highest levels of the game week after week. That’s why Mitre balls are used by more amateur clubs than any other brand. So whether you’re a semi pro or a junior player Mitre has a match ball to suit your game.

There are many different types of astro turf from the pure synthetic fibre to filled fibre where fillings can vary from sand to ground rubber. All have one thing in common they react with the ball like hard ground, increasing the bounce.

Also many have much less drag/grip on the ball than natural turf. Because of this we normally recommend reduced ball pressure to 7-9psi to slow down the ball and grain finish material to increase the drag.

A part worn shiny ball also gives this effect.

Many artificial pitches are surrounded by fences and walls which can easily damage the ball so we highly recommend more economic balls to reduce the cost of replacing damaged balls.

TRAINING Developed to perform for hour after hour of rigorous training, Mitre training balls provide great playing characteristics with long lasting durability and reliability.

RECREATIONAL For the stars of the future, ideal for a kick about in the park or a game of heads and volleys and other skills practice. Mitre recreational balls are specifically designed for fun and leisure. Check icon on ball for specific surface and weather usage.

SYNTHETIC SURFACES Asphalt and treated concrete. Not all synthetic surfaces are astro turf. On most, abrasion is the main problem and we have a range of economic training balls and high abrasion match balls which will cope with these surfaces.

SPORTS HALL Wooden tiles, carpet and indoor pitches. All are dry so water absorption is not a problem, but the abrasiveness varies widely so it is important to consider this before recommending any particular ball. Some games have special requirements such as low or reduced rebound and Mitre has reduced rebound balls for Futsal, indoor, calcetto and Futebol de Salao.

NATURAL TURF Natural turf pitches vary enormously in different countries, different seasons and different levels of play. As well as performance level we need to consider abrasion, water absorption and required use before recommending balls for natural turf. If the ball is to be used for training only then economy and durability are most important, if to be used for a match or match practice then performance is more important.

SIZE OF LOGOS We print logos to the Football Association recommended size. However in some cases where the style of the logo is too wide it may not be possible to print to the maximum size allowed. It may also not be possible to print full sized logos on smaller sizes of jerseys 24/26 to 32/34.

YOUR ARTWORK When applying your bespoke artwork to your kit the quality and type of artwork supplied will affect the accuracy of the reproduction and the speed of processing your order. When sending us your artwork please ensure it is saved in a PC drawing package, ideally Illustrator. Please ensure that all text is converted to paths/curves as this helps greatly in processing your order efficiently.

Many of our customer’s designs require redrawing unless supplied in vector format, which ensures no loss of resolution when increasing or decreasing size. For artwork supplied in vector format, AI, EPS or PDF, we do not apply an artwork charge. If artwork is supplied in another format such as JPG, BMP, TIF etc and hourly artwork fee will be charged for turning the supplied artwork into a usable format

CUSTOMISATION

GARMENT AFTERCARE TAKING CARE OF YOUR GARMENT AND WASHING ADVICE

Our garments are made using high quality materials under strict quality control conditions. It should be noted that most fabrics discolour due to staining by substances such as mud and grass which may not be entirely removed by washing. We recommend removing as much mud from the garment as possible before soaking/washing.

Follow detergent manufacturers’ instructions particularly with powders/liquids designed for heavy stains. Avoid products containing chlorine bleach that may damage fabrics, trims and decoratives.

Soaking garments in water and detergent as soon as possible can reduce discolouration. Use at least an equal amount of water by volume to that of the garments being soaked/washed. Make sure all parts are fully immersed. Pale garments such as White, Yellow, Sky and Tangerine may require more attention and the use of prewash soakers will assist in the removal of stains.

Do not overfill the washing machine with garments since if the ratio of water to garments is too small, dirt can easily be re-deposited.

This can stain all the garments grey.

We do not recommend fabric conditioners on jerseys and shorts which may cause a build up of film on fibres. This can prevent the washing process from penetrating filaments and dislodging dirt. However, socks will benefit from fabric conditioners and softeners.

Prostar will not accept liability for discolouration or damage to garments which is attributable to staining caused by elements foreign to the materials used in manufacture.

CUSTOMISING YOUR GARMENT

Please check your order carefully before printing/embroidery as we are unable to exchange goods after customisation.

We will not accept responsibility for goods incorrectly supplied which are then printed or embroidered nor for goods incorrectly printed or embroidered by sources other than ourselves.

Many of our garments are manufactured using high quality sublimation print processes. Only trained operators should carry out any further process involving inks or heat.

We are unable to offer advice on the application of decorative products other than those it supplies and will not accept liability for any damage and/or discolouration attributable to decorative products applied by others.

HEAT APPLIED LOGOS / BRANDING

- Do not exceed contact temperature of 160°C and 20 seconds dwell time since fabrics may shrink and distort.

- Use a suitable clean, unused protective layer to prevent dyes reprinting accidentally on other areas - Always keep surfaces free from dirt - Ensure zip components are not trapped between press surfaces

SCREENPRINTING

- Protect from heat any fabric that is already printed to prevent transfer of dyes between fabric surfaces - During the process do not allow newly printed fabric areas to touch other parts of the garment - Maximum curing ambient temperature 160°C

EMBROIDERING - We recommend using a needle size 70 to avoid splitting fibres

CARE INSTRUCTIONS SHINGUARD CARE INSTRUCTIONS Mitre shinguards should be wiped clean using luke warm water and be allowed to dry naturally at room temperature. In order to prevent damage to the shinguard do not place on hot surfaces such as radiators.

BALL CARE INSTRUCTIONS INFLATION

Care should be taken when inserting the inflation needle into the ball to prevent damaging the valve and bladder. Mitre Glycerine should be used to allow the needle to be inserted smoothly. This is particularly important on the initial inflation as the wall of the bladder can be punctured if the needle is pushed too far before the air is pumped in.

PRESSURE

The amount of pressure in the ball will significantly affect the performance and durability of the ball. Pressure should be checked regularly as not only do balls gradually lose air through the wall of the bladder, but temperature can also alter the pressure by 1 psi for every 10 C. The recommended pressure is printed on the ball and this should be checked regularly using a Mitre pressure gauge.

AFTER CARE

If the ball gets wet during play, it should be dried in an airy place and not force dried with heat as this will damage the ball.

GOALKEEPER GLOVES CARE INSTRUCTIONS The latex rubber used to manufacture Mitre gloves is of the finest quality giving optimum performance in both wet and dry conditions. Please take great care as due to the soft nature of the material we cannot guarantee high and sustained abrasion.

To ensure the best grip, latex should be washed in warm water prior to first use. Never use detergents or soaps and never use water above 30 C. All latex palms should be moistened with clean, warm water before each use.

Hang gloves individually. Do not dry gloves in direct heat or near radiators.
