Studioe Fabrics presents By the Sea by Elizabeth Isles

Elizabeth Isles is an avid abstract watercolor painter. She

grew up in a seaside hamlet along the coast of Nova Scotia, and her art is strongly influenced by nature and her surroundings. She enjoys capturing the essence of something beautiful or unique. She typically paints her subject with a nod to realism, but infuses them with abstract elements: just impressions of shape, color, texture, and mood as part of the subject or the surroundings.

Painting is a spiritual experience for her and as a result communing with the elements gives her a sense of balance and well-being. Having happy childhood memories of morning walks along the coast, she especially enjoys painting birds and water.

Watercolor painting requires a spontaneous attitude which matches her personality. She loves colors to be vivid as they reflect the vivid natural life in her world. Capturing the nuances of the light at a given time of day or in a given season is paramount in her creations. Living in Nova Scotia allows Elizabeth access to numerous natural wonders, including the Aurora Borealis (the Northern Lights) and a certain quality of light at her spot on the globe.

Elizabeth recently began researching natural dyes and incorporating them into her paintings. Working with textiles became the next natural step for her. Studioe found a remarkable talent in Elizabeth and we are excited to share her beautiful creations with you.
