Dallas: The City for Young Professionals
from Issue 11
After graduating college, I was able to dive into a new professional life in Dallas, Texas. The most fascinating part of my move was watching waves of young professionals move to the city to jump start their careers. Here are some reasons why Dallas is hot for young professionals:

You'll Get Hired & Can Collaborate
The economy in Dallas is moving at a fiery rate. A lot of company headquarters are moving to Dallas, increasing the local economy. These senior companies want young professionals to join their team to contribute new and fresh ideas that will help keep their business afloat. The companies that are moving here are also adapting their business to understand and support the Dallas community and culture. This fusion of company and community allows young professions to transfer their lifestyles here. They can bring their families and back-home traditions to Dallas in a collaborative way.
You're Able to Save Money & Build a Business
Dallas offers an affordable lifestyle you’ll grow to love. Even on an entry-level salary, you can afford a downtown apartment with upgraded appliances and hardwood flooring. In a number of popular neighborhoods, you’ll find a ton of added conveniences for a fair price. If you like fresh coffee in the morning, you can walk to a local coffee shop or on the weekend enjoy brunch with friends. If you have a furry friend, there’s going to be a dog park nearby too. But that’s not all. Dallas’ affordable lifestyle and local conveniences also allows young professionals freedom and flexibility to pay attention to their future. Lower taxes (i.e., no income tax) gives young professionals the ability to save money when possible. More young professionals in Dallas are becoming entrepreneurs in their “off” time and they spend their evenings attending networking happy hours and events.
You'll Have Entertainment & More
Celebrity sightings actually happen in Dallas. Unlike in LA or New York, celebrities in Dallas embrace fan moments while they’re out brunching or doing normal things like shopping at Northpark mall. But Dallas isn’t just for the famous; there are many diverse socialites and entertainment scenes for young professionals to get to know. A regular scene in Dallas is beer, wine, and food festivals or live shows like podcast recordings, radio broadcasts, and comedian improvs. Catching a concert, enjoying brunch, or dropping into a hot yoga session is one of the countless ways you can have fun in the city. Whatever you’re into, there is an option for you to live your best life and snap an Instagram-worthy moment. In fact, the Dallas skyline is the most, snapped and shared scene in the city. You might even catch a celebrity appreciating the local charm of the city while you are too.
You Can Stay Young
To complete the list of reasons why Dallas is hot for a young professional, there is a full lifestyle opportunity here. According to the World Population Review, the median age in Dallas is 32 years. The youthful energy grants Dallas a reputation as one of the largest growing metroplex cities in the United States. Young adults can expand their careers, seek a reasonable balance of work and family, and with the many events around Dallas, have fun doing both.
As a young professional, you want balance. After living in Dallas for seven years, I have found myself capable of growing as a young professional AND an entrepreneur. The opportunities I’ve found in Dallas have helped me pursue my goals.
