CRISPER 2 IN 1 01 FOOD STORAGE CONTAINER SIZE 400*500*100 mm MATERIAL WOOD / PLASTIC 2016/MAY When the cake baker make fruits cake they will store the rest fruit in the crisper. Because the package of fruits are almost large, they aren’t use so much at one time,they have to store the fruits. So I think about the element of the food storage, combine with the cut ting board.

ABOUT THE CHEF At first, the baker was an engineer ,but the job made her too busy to t ake care of her husband and baby. So she resigned and decided to open a restaurant with her husband. And also,she hopes to share the sweet s to ever yone and makes them happy. In the rest aurant, her husband and she do their own duties . Her husband cook s Spaghet ti and she makes cake. Since she was lit tle, she has been longing to be a cake baker. To achieve this goal, she f lew to Japan to lear n mak ing cake. After t wo years, she got a cer tificate.

OBSERVATION Chef’s daily schedule
9am PREPARATION T he chef ar r ives at the store about 9 a.m. and star t s to prepare the ingredient s. Include whipping the cream, cut ting the fr uit s, measur ing ingredient s…
BEGENING After finishing preparation, the chef star t s to make the cake. (Take the process of mak ing Swiss Roll for example) First of all, she takes out the pastr y from the fr idge which made yesterday. T hen sor t s the fr uit s into a box, takes enough quantit y to use. Before put ting fr uit s, she smears cream on the pastr y and squeeze cream bet ween fr uit s.
COMBINATION Finally, she put s them all together and rolls it. T hen, apply a layer of white cream on the out side sur face of the Swiss roll. Before put cakes in the selling refr igerator, she cut the Swiss roll in small pieces. She heat s the k nife and uses the hot k nife to cut the roll. T hen ser ve the cake in one-person piece. She use a r uler to make sure that each pieces are same big.
FINISH After put the first k ind of cake (Swiss Roll) into the fr idge, she star t s to make the next k inds (it depends on what season and what she want s to ser ve) and the pastr y for tomor row’s cake. Sometimes, there are some order for ms, she also uses this per iod of time to make them.

At first, I wanted to combine the cut ting and the lid of the food storage boxes, there is a big box out side to cont ain all small box, and the cut ting boad is used as the lid of the box. But there are too more using limit ations. So in the end, I saperate them in t wo par t s.

HOW TO USE Boxes are combined with magnetic ,and each box is module, users could add and remove boxes depending on their needs.Cutting board could slides on the track of the boxes,which the food can be sorted more convenient ,but also not disturb when using. Color distinction can be a reference to classify the fruit.

Instead of preventing their children from entering the kitchen, more and more parents are willing to cook with their children. It is believed that kitchen is a great place to teach their children about food, health, and taste. So I came out with an idea to make the interaction more at tractive.

Interaction After observing the process of a child and his parent’s interaction during they make cookies, I found that parents play a role of guide who helps the child exploring and answers their question.
Hypothesis and Revise After making a hypothesis I made mock-ups to test. This time I highlight my hypothesis on hardware — includes a mixer, a rolling pin, and a dough-shaper. Except the way of they using, I also observed their reaction to this cooker.

Add the ingredients

MEASURING CUP Each cup has different patterns, which represents four different ingredients. Parents can teach them the knowledge of ingredients. Children can learn how the ingredient originally looks like, and where are they come from.
RECIPE STORY To make the baking interaction more active and attractive. The story book combines with a recipe. Making process and the cooker is also a part of the story. Instruction and picture are both printed clearly in the book. Image that baking when listening the story, and the cookies are finished! Each theme has different story and cooking recipe.

MIXING BOWL To prevent children from spill the thing out, because of their inability to hold big bowl tightly. This mixing bowl has a lid, and it could mix the ingredients by easily rotating the handle.

COOKIE STAMP The pattern of this cookie mold is replaceable. Each shape has a related place to put in. Children could change the picture themselves. Whether they put different animals face together, it doesn’t matter. They can use their imagination randomly.

Rod the dough
ROLLING PIN The rolling pin has doubled inside structures, which is made to roll easily. Children hold the handle on two sides, and use a force in single direction. The pin scroll effectively. And two larger circles remain a thicken of the dough but also increase steadily when kids are using.

CHILCOOK’s recipe just likes the story book. When parents bake with their children, parents can read the story which is reading the recipe simultaneously to guide their kids. Kids could follow the story and process step by step. Not only children can use their imagination, but parents can also rely on the story to teach kids. CHILCOOK make the interaction of children and their parents more fun and impressive.

At first , I tr y three different ways to make mock-ups. After discussing with instr uc tor and think ing , l chose one and keep developing. I made one mock up of BEVELLO , and change it s bot ton.l moved them from bot ton to top to make user more conveninent when using this machine.
