Give Kansas City A SPECIAL SECTION FOR THE SEASON OF CHARITY
With the traditional time for giving just around the corner, Kansas Citians are faced again with the annual question — which philanthropic cause is the worthiest and most urgent and makes the most sense to you, the donor? And which are the best stewards of donation, whether monetary or in-kind? That’s where our second annual Give Kansas City special section comes in. There’s no shortage of need in our community — need that can be addressed not just by writing a check, but with volunteer time, too. We made your job easier by laying out the options so you can support the cause that’s right for you.

Catholic Education Foundation 12615 PARALLEL PARKWAY KANSAS CITY, KS | CEFKS.ORG | 913.647.0344
The Catholic Education Foundation (CEF) believes that every child who seeks a high-quality, college-preparatory education should have that opportunity, regardless of the family’s financial circumstances. This year, CEF will provide $2.4 million in scholarship funding for about 1,500 students at 24 Catholic schools in Kansas City, Kansas, and surrounding communities in Northeast Kansas. The majority of families CEF serves are living near or below the federal poverty line. Scholarships are strictly need-based; there is no requirement that the student is Catholic to receive scholarship assistance or attend a CEF-supported school. In some schools, as many as 24% of students are not Catholic. Their families choose a CEF-supported school because of the high-quality academics and safe, nurturing environment. The academic results are outstanding: at the CEF-supported high school in Kansas City, Kansas, 98.7% of students graduate and 97% of them go on to college, as compared to a graduation rate of 77% and a college enrollment rate of less than 40% at the nearest neighborhood school. To learn more about providing the gift of high-quality, collegepreparatory education for a local student in need, visit www.cefks.org.
