Urban Rivival & Lakeside Mobility
Location: Lugano, Switzerland Time Period: 01/2021 - 06/2021 Competition Winner Collaboration with Atelier De Molfetta & Strode (Lugano)
Background: The landscape and cultural image of Lugano and its lakefront are characterized by the particular natural conformation of the Gulf of Lugano, between Monte San Salvatore and Monte Brè. The strong topographical presence of forested mountains and lake water contribute to a cultural image of a city that is inseparable from its shores. The proposal of a renewed waterfront or lakefront for Lugano today must necessarily include both historical and cultural aspects, as well as environmental, leisure and socialization issues. Design Concept: The Lugano lakefront redevelopment project aims to consolidate its role as the city's main public space, consisting of a continuous network of green spaces overlooking the water. The priority intervention will therefore address the moderation of private motorized traffic and the consequent strengthening of public transport and slow mobility as the main vectors of mobility on the lakefront. In this way to redefine the soul of Lugano, looking to quality tourism and to the redefinition of the “Lungolago” as catalyser for the future of the city. Type: Landscape design and Urban design

Urban Transformation & Sustainability
Location: Carrara, Italy Time Period: 03/2020 - 09/2020 Master Graduation Project Supervisor: Hope Ives Strode, Sara Protasoni Collaborator: Deng Yutong & Toriyama Natsumi
Background: As a consequence of this long-lasting marble extraction activity, the Carrara landscape and society reshaped. A series of environmental and social problems occurred, white water in Carione river, the population loss and more abandoned quarries and factories. Besides, the high disturbance of human activities of mineral extraction requires a lot of effort of restoration both on environment and landscape. Design Concept: This project hopes to solve the social, economic and environmental problems by landscape planning and design. A new industry chain is proposed following the principle of cradle to crdle to realize the sustainability of the city, and the landscape and urban design is based on this new industry chain. First, a series of hydrological infrustructure are built in the quarry area to seperate and deposit marble waste material by using rain water. Second, blue and green infrustractures are built alongside the river channel to archieve resilience of the city. Third, the waste material collected in the quarry will be recycled and reused in the production of new industry. After the whole process, Carrara will realize sustainability with a " Cradle to Cradle" transformation. Type: Urban Planning and Landscape Design

TREE OF CARRARA Carrara's urban sprawl is like the growth of a tree. Which is correspondent to the cherry tree that described in the book Cradle to Cradle of William McDonald, that no waste produced in the whole life circle. The main goal of the design is to collect marble waste from quarry areas in the river basin, through a series of Hydralogical system design, to purify the water in Carrione river and provide raw materials for the new industries to realize the"tree of Carrara".

Location: Isola Brissago, Switzerland Time Period: 04/2019 - 06/2019 Politecnico di Milano Design Studio Supervisor: Burgi Paul Luther, Longo Antonio Emilio Alvise Collaborator: Ding Xitong & Zhong Hongfei
Background: The Brissago Islands are not only the only Swiss botanical garden on an island, but also a landmark of the region. Over 2000 plant species grow here from the Mediterranean and subtropical regions of all five continents. The island witnessed the love story of the Baroness Antoinette de Saint Léger and being adapted by the German merchant Max maden, and today a popular destination for boat trips, an oasis for families and a sought-after place to celebrate weddings in a charming setting. Design Concept: The first design concept is about “the road of time”, tourists are encouraged to follow the footprint of history, to explore and discover the history of this island. The second concept is about remembering and forgetting. Waterside landscape design are based on 4 important timepoint of the island. Sometimes these timelines will be submerged by water or covered by sand, this is just like history been forgotten by us, and one day these timelines appear again, so these memories will be discovered by tourists. 04 TOUCHING MOMENTS Rural Landscape Perception
Location: Vignale Monferrato, Italy Time Period: 09/2019 - 02/2020 Politecnico di Milano Design Studio Supervisor: Fontana Carlotta, Roberta Mastropirro, Irene Toselli Individual Work
Background: Vignale Monferrato is one of the UNESCO recognition of the serial site "Wine Landscapes of Piedmont: Langhe-Roero and Monferrato. As a world cultural heritage, the vineyard landscape in Vignale Monferrato reflects the result of the interaction between people and land. While the main road passes through the village is the fundamental need for th evillagers. Design Concept: The design site, a rural road, is a link that connects people with the land. Villagers pass through this road to work in the fields every day. Tourists pass this road to explore the culture here. This road is the origin place of all feeling. The road is a place where people go to see, hear, smell and feel every touching moment. The main purpose of this design is to improve the road space. the road use experience is improved, to creating the idyll of Vignale Monferrato. Gamification in Promoting Public Participation for Landscape Heritage Conservation
2.3 Detail Design Proposal : E plore t e gar en an in t e trees In the app we provided 3 basic level of trees and let the visitors to find them in the garden.the visitors are also encouraged to create their own path and mark it in the map.
Proposal 2: A opt a tree We encouraged citizen in Cinisello to adopt a tree, to make this place both a historic garden and a eductional park, and also help Relieve pressure from lack of budget.

Location: Vignale Monferrato, Italy Time Period: 09/2019 - 01/2020 Politecnico di Milano Coursework Supervisor: Alberta Cazzani, Nicola Noe Type: Research and Design Individual Work
Background: Villa Ghirlanda Silva is a 17th-century noble villa in Cinisello Balsamo. As the first English garden in Italy, it is rarely known by the public. Due to the municipality's lack of awareness of heritage conservation, some facilities were built in the villa without matching the temperament and hindered the growth of the historic trees. The large area of the park and the wide range of users brought a certain degree of difficulty to the supervision work. In addition, due to shortage of funds, some facilities in the park are old and lack of maintenance, causing potential safety hazards. Design Concept: A mobile phone application is proposed to allow people to participate in the conservation process. The application provides three main functions: (1) increasing the user’s motivation to protect the historic trees; (2) providing a platform allowing people to adopt a tree; (3) publishing information of the activities in the park to increase the Villa’s popularity. With the increasing social attention and public participation, everyone could contribute to the conservation of Villa Ghirlanda Silva. 38
