BACKGROUND RESEARCH Design Outline
As human normal body temperature is around 36-37 degree. The advantages of applying thermal detection is it can distinguish, discover and locate drowning people, as the human temperature is higher the average ocean temperatur. Once locate the patient, the drone can derictly head to the spot.
To eliminate the risks of search and rescue by inserting industiral drones in to SAR operations.

Search and rescue process require fast respond that will increase the survial chance for victims.
Accuray is the most important factor that would increase the fesibility of SAR process.

Delivery
From the perspective of live rescuing, the cost of SAR equipments tend to be expensive which is usually supported by goverment.
Potential market
Delivering EMT or staff to the spot is crtical, which is the main focus in this project.
Standard rescue equipment such as rescue board and life circle required longer rescuing period as the personnel has to contact victims. Hovercraft and boats are much faster; however, this equipment is generally expensive and hard to carry.

Morphology is a branch of biology that deals with the form and structure of animals and plants, by adding criteria into different stages, the design output is structured and various. After linking all the possible features downwards, the design concepts can be defined.
The chosen UAV layout is Vertical takeoff and landing designs, which allows the drone to hovering in the air. The advatages of this design provide a fully horizontal thrust, compareing to the traditoanl driones, the peformance of the motor is three times greater.

PROBLEMS
The movement of the traditional quadcopter does not conform to aerodynamic, especially when carrying a life buoy. The extra volume of the lifebuoy will hinder the speed of the drone. Due to the optimal flight angle, the efficiency of the motor is also reduced.
FLOW SIMULATION The unique support-wing design allows the air-flow generate a air swor underneath the wings, which can provide an extra ifting force to the body.
SOLUTIONS
Manta has an additional horizontal motor in the tail position for propulsion. The sleek design of the fuselage eliminates unnecessary energy consumption. The support-wing design maintains the overall weight balance under the condition of aerodynamic.
DESIGN DEVELOPMENT Prototyping Detectors
Mothership
DESIGN DEVELOPMENT Systematic design
With the help of 5G technology to achieve timely positioning and reporting, Manta is equipped with several detectos when performing search and rescue tasks. When receiving an accident report, it will first launch several small search drones to the scene to confirm the number and location of casualties, and report to search and rescue personnel.
Detectors When the drowning person is found, the drone will flash and keep hovering above the drowning person, prompting the rescuer to locate them.
Propeller
Lighting/Signal
Camera
Mothership The main function of the rescue drone is to accurately deploy the lifebuoy, to provide buoyancy support to the survivors before the search and rescue personnel arrive at the scene, and to track and confirm the casualty situation through the camera, so that the search and rescue personnel can grasp the scene at an early stage. Each rescue drone is equipped with 6 life buoys, and its body is also buoyant material to provide additional support
FINAL DESIGN Lifebuoy Design
Considering lifebuoy as a workstation within the ocean, it is necessar y to provide adequate elbow room and palm room. In order to fit most of the users, the dimension of an airbag is chosen to accommodate 95th percentile of users, the remainder of the population, smaller than this will necessarily be accommodated. The related body dimensions should include shoulder breadth (bideltoid and biacromial ), chest depth, abdominal depth, hip breadth, etc.
FINAL DESIGN Design Features
The overall form of this drone body is bionic inspired engineering that extract the curvatures and forms from the marine animal called ‘manta’. The layout of exhaust is inspired by fish’s gill that contain several layers to guide air flow.

SPACEJET GLUE GUN
02
BACKGROUND RESEARCH Design Outline
PROJECT AIM The aim of this project is to design a glue gun that is mainly focus on the family market. Design an ergonomical-driven glue gun that is easy to control.
Glue gun
Geometric
A hot glue gun is a popular tool for arts and crafts, professional home improvement, and DIY projects. Unlike other binding devices, a glue gun can be used on anything including wood, fabric, stone, glass, metal, plastic, and foam. Crafting
The ease of cotrolling glue gun has always been a pain point for users. To overcome this issue, the project would modify the original trigger machanism to improve the user experiences. Control
Stationary
Design as a stationary, In order to distinguish the target client from other glue gun producer in this project, the design is aim to focus on adding futuristic elements to encorage customer to have DIY crafting.
BACKGROUND RESEARCH Considerations
ERGONOMIC CONCERNS
TRIGGER
TRIGGER
According to the products on the market, most of the existing products would commonly lead to an abnormal load on different muscles. Besides, the size and the trigger angles would also bring an uncomfortabe posture that cuase negative impact to users.
The distance from the trigger to the palm would influence the accuracy of operations, as the user would need to stay in the same posture for a while which is known as static works, the pointing accuracy of glue gun would change over time.
Green line shows an ideal angle of glue gun that let the users would not need to bend their wrist while using it.
DESIGN DEVELOPMENT Ideation
A glue gun is designed to be easy to squeeze and control. The design of trigger and handle would influence user experiences. To provide better user interaction, the general form of this design tends to be geometrical.

Whether you are working with fabric, wood, metal, or plastic, there’s hot melt glue guns that are perfect for your needs. These compact handheld devices allow you to tackle numerous craft projects and household repairs in seconds.
FINAL DESIGN Overview
Glue guns can be used to repair shoes or clothing items such as missing buttons. They can be used for craft projects such as making jewelry or scrapbooking. They’re great for attaching decorations to windows or walls and even making embossed patterns on cards or ornaments.

BRANDING
One of the advantages of making your own popcorn (especially for children) is the ‘theatre value’ of watching the kernels of corn pop and expand.
The goal of this design is trying to serve the popcorn for all the family members. Thus, the capacity of it should be easy to control and should have a large space.
Originally popcorn makers used hot oil to cook the kernels of corn but more recently hot air is used to produce a healthier food snack.
As popcorn makers are largely considered novelty appliances, the style and design of the product has changed very little over the years. The advatages of this design is the collabration with MAYTAG

BACKGROUND RESEARCH Project outline
Project outline
The topic of this design pfoject is called 'Moulding for the future' whihc would focus on the circular system. The use of linear products within our daily life has lead to an emergy enviromental concerns. Waste, greenhouse gases emission, climate chanege or lost of biodiversity has became serious chanllenges to our global society. In order to evolve and enhance customers' living quality, the aim of this project would focus on the modifying shopping routine and replacing the polymer materials into a sustainable materials. In this case wil be glass.

BACKGROUND RESEARCH Prototyping
During the inspiration stage, the goal of this stage is to define an iconic shape or form that would match the function of air freshener. In order to present this emtional feeling from the glass, the form of fuji mountain is chosen. The patterns attached to the glass create an abstratctive shape of rifts.

The user scenario for the air freshener was defined to place in the toliet, which means the size of it should be control to under 120mm height and 120mm wide (which can fit most of the environment). The opne of the container should be large enough for the cleanning brush to get through, that is the key factor of defining the diameter of the open.

Pattern
Taking manufacturing process into account, it could be a challenge to create an unequal height of patterns. During the first tryout session, the soften glass would stuck in the mould which distroy the workpiece thus the final design is then convert into the following forms.

The texture on the surface of the air freshener is cirtical which required to an additional sizing process. in this stage, there is a open-mould that made of several steel sheets. One the advantages using metal sheets pattern is the soften-glass enable to create this form without sticking on the interwalls. Glass blowing would be the main manufacuting process in this process. As the spinning process in the moulding, it can generate an uniform thickness. Moreover, by using spinning process there would not be any split lines which enhance the aesthic of the product.
