PROJECT 01 / 失竊的公共城市

Besides other opening space in Hsinchu city , there were 3 common space in this site such as Hsinchu Public Center, Hsinchu Public Hall, and Chung-Cheng Stage night market that changed method to face city. I tried to keep the context not only the solid space of Chung-Cheng Stage night market but also void space of Hsinchu Public Center. At the same time I only opened one side of the Hsinchu Public Center near the Hsinchu Public Hall to make three public space be a whole space, On the other hand, to create 3 layers within the internal block through the light construction at the primary public center . One was opening square for people, another was halfprivate hostel, and the other is absolutely private space in hostel. So, I try to redefine the relationship between public and privacy at the internal blocks . In Hsinchu city, life didn’t only exist in much the same frontage but connect the internal space in city. Finally, we can through into the different space about different period that was overlapped context and seek the temporary theft of city. 失竊——是暫時的遺忘或暫時被停留在歷史某個切片上。 在當代我們該如何重新詮釋城市中的公共性? 在過去對於城市印象的正面性空間外,日常生活該如何與城市做連結?

此設計透過對台灣新竹城市公共一般性空間的研究,在當代我們不停地放大縮小的尋找城市 的生活片段,透過一連串內部的公共特質的空間,來重新詮釋新竹城市中失竊的日常生活、 時間、尺度的生活地景。

Hsinchu—one of the historical cities in Taiwan. The different regimes have engaged in Hsinchu City to reattach the front that defines the city. Hsinchu City underwent the Qing Dynasty, the Japanese colonial period, the Republic of China, and the contemporary, different urban planning that contradictorily put side by side in City. 新竹—作為台灣歷史古城之一,不同政權的介入不斷地重新貼附定義城市的正面,經歷清代、日治、民國、當代, 不同的都市發展計畫,矛盾的將不同的面並置在新竹中。 城市因為生活的需求在正面以外的空白處,填上因為慾望所需的黑,但往往被填上的黑是私人空間想像中的背 面,藉由私人空間延伸的想像,尋找這個城市與公共性連結的關係。

接續著過去的公共性,新竹市民眾活動中心 / 新竹美學館 / 中正台夜市,如同多數新竹內部 公共空間,不斷地改變面對城市的方式,我認為城市內部的公共性不是像孤島般的存在,而 是作為新竹日常生活的開始。 企圖保留中正台夜市密實的內部紋理與空白的民眾活動中心以及保留民眾活動中心三面牆體 ( 釋放一側 ),透過街廓外部與內部不同開放程度的開口,以輕構架系統增加附屬使用空間, 使民眾介入底層開放的城市廣場、上層半公共的青年旅館,介入內部的公共中,在新竹,生 活不僅僅存在於連續一致的正面之下,而是一個個內部的連結,因此我們可以穿梭在不同時 期堆疊出的紋理之內,找回這個暫時被偷走的城市。

設計中開放的廣場以及新竹歷史過程中所存在的公共:城隍廟、東門市場、新復珍電影院、 學校等等,城市在眾人展示它的正面,建築的背面隱含著大的生活,在新竹的城市內部,存 在著失竊的生活地景。

The city is showed by its frontage for the crowd, but behind the building is another diverse life. Attempt to insert the new living space into the Hsinchu. 城市在眾人之中展示著它的正面,建築的背後卻隱含著大的生活, 在新竹的城市內部,置入新的生活地景。

Hsinchu urban planning in the Qing Dynasty. The public space was defined by the main street and district in Qing Dynasty period. In this period, Hsinchu government hall and city-god temple were built as the center of the city. The whole block, dwelling and living space also followed the main street to be built.

Hsinchu urban planning in the Japanese colonial period . The public was defined by the common buildings such as city hall, station, the frontage of government, etc. In this period, the government chose another site to establish the new government hall and plan the grid system of the context from east to hole city. Therefore, the new government put the common space to intervene between former context and new blocks, that the boundary of new and former show how to merge the difference.

Hsinchu urban planning in the Contemporary . R.O.C. and contemporary follow the former urban planning, the common space also changed different ways to face the city. Merging two different contexts can easily find overlapping events along the edge of common space.Therefore, I regarded the blocks of internal in a different context can project on the process of development of the city even though the process of history was detached.We can find the memories of the city in the overlapping internal area.

日治時期崇尚東方,開始在清代中心的東方設置新的行政區域,並 以格子系統的都市計畫,建構在舊的文理之中,以東門城為新的城 市中心。並以單體建築來凸顯其公共性,例如公會堂、車站、正面 性元素來定義城市中的公共性,因此在新劃設的格子系統內可以看 到以公共建築為街廓內主要的一般性空間。因此 , 新的政府以正面 性的一般性空間介入在舊的紋理邊界,隨著都市發展,在這個邊界 上與兩個時代的中心,我們可以看到許多新與舊並存的生活方式。

民國政府與當代延續著日治時期所劃設的都市計畫,在城 市發展下,我們可以輕易的在這些公共性的建築邊界發 現不同時期紋理疊合的衝突與過程被並置在街廓內部。 因此我認為這些在兩個紋理邊界交集的街廓內部,最能夠 反映城市發展的過程,即使歷史的過程消失了,但我們可 依稀的在重疊的內部找出城市的記憶。

清朝時期以市役所與城隍廟為中心以放射狀建構整個竹塹 城,以街道與區域來定義城市中的公共性,因此在南北大 街的官道連結著政治經濟的中心,形成重要的生活軸帶。

The Volume is part of Hsinchu public Center. One side of the volume that works commercial activities is faced road and the other side upon the structure is stair of the arena.

Using the light construction that included public, half-public, and private space to create a new public landscape and walkable urban space.

Chung-cheng night market has opened since 1951. People can do any food, clothes, and any entertainment.

The ground floor usually is commercial activities that sell some clothes, food and daily necessities.

Finally, we can through into the different spaces that different periods were overlapped context and we can seek the temporary theft of city. 在既有的街廓中,透過輕而穿透的構造與置入三個不同層級的建築計畫來重新整合內部。第一個是完全開放給市民 的公共廣場,另一個是半開放 ( 半公共 ) 的青年旅館與絕對私人的客房空間。所以,嘗試在原本的街廓內部貼附並 重新定義公共與私人的關係,梳理既有斷裂的城市介面,將其視為一個整體。在新竹,生活不僅僅存在於連續一致 的正面之下,而是一個個內部的連結,因此我們可以穿梭在不同時期堆疊出的紋理中,找回這個暫時被偷走的城市。

從基礎設施結構中探討,從維持城市基本的運作以及需求到人與人之間的日常生活、生產消 費、娛樂到全球合作不同層級間彼此相互影響。本研究將根據網絡都市主義為本次研究理論, 探究在基礎設施架構之下,資訊空間與人的關係,以作為設計研究的參考。

網路發展近四⼗年來,透過網路系統 的運行,改變了城市組成、生活、監控、管理或分析的 方式;換句話說,可及性已經滲透我們各種物質與非物質的交流中。 互 聯 網 絡 作 為 當 代 新 興 的 基 礎 設 施, 基 礎 設 施 是 城 市 發 展 的 重 要 網 絡, 在 Splintering Urbanism , Steve Graham , Simon Marvin , 2002 分裂的城市中提到「網絡 (Network) 不會獨立的 發展,而是和不同的網絡之間的合作」,使我們的生活更為便利;資訊傳遞的即時性,同時 使得各種訊息不受空間的限制,提供人與人在虛擬空間中,資訊得以被廣泛的接觸。但也為 城市帶來各種挑戰,特別是個人隱私的問題,如何防⽌個人網路的被竊取,格外的被重視。 因此,目前網路的使用已經非常普遍,但是建築和都市計畫都沒有跟著改變,希望安排未來 真正智慧城市的建築與城市空間。

Nowadays, the use of the Internet become very common, but architecture and urban planning have not been adjusted. In this case, how to arrange the urban space to develop into a true smart city still needs to explore. In the thesis, research urban infrastructure, information and communications technology (ICT), and activity networks. Through the relationship between them to rethink, changing land use changing and architectural space strategy and merge the contemporary life into the context of ICT development. At the same time, Urban cyberspace where daily life information, resources and facilities are more accessible than before, enables people to live, work, play, and more opportunities to create interactions, encounters, and chances.

這個時代,網路的使用已經變得基本且非常普遍,建築和都市計畫卻沒有跟著調整,在這個 情況下,對於都市空間要如何安排,來因應發展成真正的智慧城市,這點很少人探討。 本研究針對城市基礎設施、資訊通訊科技 (ICT)、活動網絡來探討,透過三者的關係,作土地 使用的改變與建築空間的考量,讓當代人的生活融入 ICT 發展的脈絡之中;建立城市網絡空 間,其中日常生活的資訊、資源和設施相對於以往更可及,使得人們可以在其中生活、工作、 娛樂和更多的機會產生互動、邂逅和產生想發的機會。 研論文主要分為兩個階段:第一為研究處理資訊通訊科技相關城市基礎設施的架構系統的分 析,ICT 基本所需的網絡結構會配合既有的都市紋理來建構,會比較合乎成本,通常是鐵路、 道路和橋樑等,因應 ICT 科技發展需求以及基礎設施運作的基本要求來選擇適合的基地,在 未來以資訊為主建築空間與人使用上的需求與改變。

Network of Digital Content Industry in Tainan In the related industry chain of ICT development, the downstream industries that are in direct contact with people are selected into this project, such as the digital post-production industry, architectural studios, digital content, etc. They involve the need for fast networks and a large amount of data to transmit it. Therefore, this thesis will not only deal with the focus on the data-center park but in the information age. When these information flows are necessary for life, how will the relatively secure information equipment spaces interact with the public space to create new planning?

第二為設計階段,主要探討與 ICT 相關的產業鏈中可以延伸出的活動,並配合基地周遭居民 新的生活網絡的建立,透過人在空間中體驗、消費、娛樂所產生的活動與數據與資訊科技在 空間安全性層級的建立,來形成主要的建築計畫。最後企圖連結城市資訊,可以基於位置, 自由的在為了取得城市資訊的空間中移動,並創造集體開放的活動發生,形成城市網絡空間。

The cost of infrastructure construction required by ICT is relatively high, so it should be relied on existing infrastructure, such as bridges, railways, roads, bridges, highways, etc. Therefore, I will select the appropriate site and propose a space strategy related to the demand and change of information in the future by satisfying the basic requirements of ICT development and the basic requirements of infrastructure operation.

資訊通訊科技與生活必需的水電瓦斯管線網絡最好配合既有的都市紋理來建構,會比較合乎成本,通常藉由道路、鐵路以及橋樑 來延伸到街廓內部;台鐵鐵路為縱貫全島的交通網路系統,主要的光纖骨幹也透過將其延伸到需要的區域。 因此要作 ICT 方面的思考時,與其他基礎設施的搭配是非常重要的。我們生活較貼近的基礎設施,通常包含著一定的服務範圍或 需強的強度,會在使用需求的不同來增加其支應的密度,並且可以透過視覺化分析可以反應其活動的強度。

The vertical system in the building should be distributed efficiently in according to the requirements of the optical fiber, rainwater, power grid and the transmission of the machine network flow on the buildings. In terms of security monitoring, it meets the basic needs of the data center. Data can be made a backup in the information station in the city.

貫穿左右兩個基地的媒體廣場,提供人們自由的進 出,並與台鐵林森站連結,可以舉辦各種預期的事 件活動,也可以因為使用者的介入,產生不可預期 的活動發生,並及時地傳遞給其他區域。使資訊空 間成為如手機、網路成為日常必須的存在,讓人們 自由的決定是否要與其連接或不連接,作資訊時代 最大自由的空間展現。

剖面所要呈現的上下樓層雖然與過去一樣可以夠過 樓梯電梯來到達,但是因為不同區域需要的安全節 別不同,可及性的級別不同,需要別的方式才可以 進入。自由開放的空間做為城市基礎設施構架的延 伸進去建築之中,充滿複雜族群的空間,企圖讓這 些複雜的人們可以碰面,進而產生集體的生活。

失序狀態-在自然或人文的事件中,有許多看似散亂的情形,但這些散亂的行為隱含著有意 識的行為,藉由特定的事件或物件將其視為一個整體重新整理。失序狀態-牧羊行為,牧羊 人會創造特定的邊界來影響羊群的方向,藉由牧羊人來驅使散亂的羊群移動至草原豐沛的區 域。在游牧的行為中,「柵欄」是個重要的元素,牧羊人會藉由自身所創造的空間邊界與柵 欄所畫出的區域轉換來取得對於草與水元的需求。同樣的,人也可以選擇對自己有意義或感 興趣的空間。 本設計藉由漁業生產、販賣到生活景觀的行為來因應空間類型的變化,疏理漁業生產販賣與 遊客消費的相互關係。因此,透過三個層級來安排本設計的架構,水平構架、垂直構架與屋 頂廣場,重新整合原本新竹產銷中心與漁獲處理與遊客休憩的空間。

臺灣四面有著綿延的海岸線與其依賴⼗分的密切,在近幾年漁獲量逐漸的下降、出海口自然 的淤積導致漁船無法順利進出等問題,台灣漁港面臨空間與結構的轉變;海港有著新鮮的海 洋資源與美好的自然風景吸引著遊客假日前往,在腹地廣大的海港空間本質下與觀光行為的 迥異,如何解決這些散亂的狀況、解決開放空間所造成的嗅味潮濕感或影響漁業作業情況。

People Flows Along Monuments Make Boundary

FLOCKING / This design through the behaviors of fishery production and sales to the living landscape that responds to change in types of space and to manage the relationship between fishery production, sales, and tourist consumption. Therefore, the structure of the design is arranged through three levels, the horizontal frame, the vertical frame, and the roof garden, to re-integrate the original Hsinchu production and marketing center and the space for catching and visitors to relax.

Taiwan is an island that dependence is a very close state surrounded by sea. In recent years, the catch has gradually decreased, and the natural sedimentation of the estuary has made it impossible for boats to enter and leave smoothly. Taiwan ’s fishing ports are facing changes in space and structure. The beautiful natural scenery attracts tourists to go on holiday. Under the essence of the vast harbor space in the hinterland, tourism behavior is very different. How to solve these scattered conditions, solve the odor smell and dampness caused by open space, or affect fishery operations. Entropy—There are many seemingly scattered situations in natural or human events, but these scattered behaviors imply conscious behaviors, which are reorganized as a whole by specific events or objects. Disorder-Shepherd behavior. Shepherds will create specific boundaries to affect the direction of the flock, and the shepherds will drive the scattered herds to move to the rich areas of the steppe. In nomadic behavior, the "fence" is an important element. The shepherd will obtain the demand for grass and water elements through the spatial boundary created by himself and the area drawn by the fence. Similarly, people can choose spaces that are meaningful or interesting to them.

PROJECT 04 / Forest Keeper

As the global climate change, it's the fire that causes the quick disappearance of large areas of rain forest. Forest area in 2000 and projected forest area in 2050 and 2100, as calculated by the living forest model under a do-nothing scenario, in which demand for land increases to supply a growing global population with food, fibre and fuel, and historical patterns of poorly planned and exploitation of forest resources continue. Forest fires are growing in size and frequency across the tropics. Continually eroding fragmented forest edges, they are unintended. By replanting forests and preventing forest fires, we established the fire-division zone and forest monitoring. Finally, it's afforestation and reforestation carbon trading mechanism that we try to bring local residents more extra income with,and then encourage people to join our plan "Defenders of the forestplan." With lightweighting construction and designning node to implement the two fabricdesigned to complete, we could truly become forest keeper. 在全球氣候變遷之下,造成雨林快速且大面積消失的原因是「火災」。根據“不採取行動”情 況下的活林模型計算的 2000 年森林面積以及 2050 年和 2100 年的預計森林面積,在這種情況 下,對土地的需求增加,從而為不斷增長的全球人口提供食物,纖維和燃料,以及 規劃不善, 森林資源的開採仍在繼續。在整個熱帶地區,森林大火的規模和頻率都在增加。 不斷侵蝕零 散的森林邊緣,這是意料之外的。 我們藉由再植林、森林火災的預防,利用我們的建築在森林之中建立防火區劃,與物理環境 的分析得到適切的對應,並監控森林,最後是藉由碳交易的造林與植林機制,讓當地居民有 額外的收入,提高居民意願來加入我們「森林保衛者計畫」。藉由輕量化構造與節點設計來 落實設計能讓兩人組構完成,並且因應雨林不同的時期所需要的農業工作區或生活空間不同 來構築監控農業塔,讓因火災消失或稻伐的樹木重新回到雨林之中,真正成為雨林的守衛者。

This project used the Ecotect software to analyze the wind and shadow on the site. I known the dimension of the wind from the north, east, and south are more frequent with the information visualization, through those data and chart, I tried to apply that information visualization to this project.
