The IV International Conference of Community Psychology (4cipc) is organized by the University of Barcelona in collaboration with the Autonomous University of Barcelona.

It continues the undertaking of previous international conferences (San Juan de Puerto Rico, 2006; Lisboa, 2008; Puebla, México, 2010) of forging shared agendas and effective answers to the social problems and aspirations of the new century from an approach that fosters human development by means of social participation and synergic action that, by transcending diversity and plurality of positions, allows cooperation for facing existing challenges. For this conference we pose as specific focus of reflection and discussion the feasibility and conditions of community empowerment and promotion in view of psychological and social implications that current situation of crisis and social exclusion presents to different national and local realities. Other topics of interest are the following: • Community development and empowerment. • Theoretical, methodological and value diversity in community work. • Community action and Public policies. • Professional and social inter-disciplinarity in community work. • Ethical and value aspects in community action and role. • Community and community action in the local-global crossroads. • Social and communitarian implications of new–computer and educational—technologies (i. e., the Bolonia process). • Violences - visible and invisible. Organization will seek to foster participation of different actors and sectors as well as discussion of their respective views of the community field. It will also try to facilitate room for diverse associations and networks to meet.
Simultaneous translation (Spanish-English, English-Spanish) will be available in the conferences and other relevant events.

calls First call for proposals deadline: September 30th 2011. Second call deadline: January 30th 2012. Acceptance or rejection of proposals will be notified within the following 45 days. Submissions will be online through the “send-now” procedure at www.4cipc2012.org. Submissions can be presented in Spanish, English, and Portuguese languages. A maximum of two proposals as first author and three as coauthor will be admitted.
