BE CUBE CUBE ist anders. Seit über 20 Jahren gehen wir unseren eigenen Weg, mit dem erklärten Ziel das beste Rad zu bauen. Wir bekennen uns klar zu unserem Standort in Bayern und sind auch nach fast einem viertel Jahrhundert noch ein inhabergeführtes Unternehmen mit flacher Hierarchie und kürzesten Entscheidungswegen.

CUBE is different. For over 20 years, we’ve been tracking our own way with the sole aim to build the best bike possible. We are heavily committed to our roots in Bavaria and even after nearly a quarter century we are still a privately owned company with a flat hierarchy and short decisionmaking paths.

We combine our entire development processes in Waldershof: from the first sketch to the final testing of prototypes in our in-house testing laboratory with standards far beyond the conventional standards, and to extreme riding tests carried out by our athletes. Their success in competition, whether mountain biking, triathlon or road biking, is only confirming our benchmark in quality and technology.

An unserem Standort vereinen wir eine tiefgründige Qualitätssicherung der Betriebsfestigkeiten, die Sicherstellung der Qualität in der Montage und die Kompetenz im Service für unsere Händler. Diese Bereiche stärken sich gegenseitig, um Toleranzen weiter zu minimieren und Qualität dauerhaft zu steigern. Die enge Zusammenarbeit und stetige Kommunikation zwischen den unterschiedlichen Abteilungen ist für uns unabdingbar und wird kontinuierlich vorangetrieben. Lokal kommen alle Abteilungen im Prüflabor zusammen. Hier haben wir die Möglichkeit auf über 20 Prüfmaschinen unsere Produkte und Serienkomponenten auf Herz und Nieren zu prüfen. Prototypen und Serienteile müssen einen eigens entwickelten Prüfzyklus durchlaufen, welchen wir mit der Unterstützung des akkreditierten Prüflabor Velotech erarbeitet haben. Das Testminimum basiert auf den aktuellen Normen wie beispielsweise der EN, jedoch passen wir die Lasten entsprechend der Fahrradtypen und Einsatzgebiete auf die tatsächlich auftretenden Kräfte an. Nur so lässt sich Sicherheit und Leichtbau sinnvoll vereinen. Den selbst ernannten CUBE Test Standard (CTS) entwickeln wir konsequent weiter. Dazu greifen wir auf die langjährige Erfahrung unseres Teams, sowie auf das Feedback unserer professionellen Fahrer zurück. Weiteren Input erhalten wir durch Messungen mit sensibler Elektronik und Sensorik

CUBE is unusual in the amount of in-house testing that we do. Our test laboratory has been continuously expanding for several years and now includes more than 20 different fixtures to put frames and components to the ultimate test. Of course, all frames and parts on sale in Europe must conform to EN standards, but we wanted to go beyond that. Our prototypes and production samples undergo a specially developed testing cycle that we developed in collaboration with the accredited testing laboratory Velotech. The test minimum is based on EN and other standards, but we adapt the loads according to the specific type of bike and use. This lets us combine safety and lightweight construction in a sensible way. We continuously develop our CUBE Test Standard (CTS) as we gain more and more experience. We use measurements from strain gauges and other sensors during real-world riding and apply the same loads on the test stand. Comparing real conditions with the conditions on the test stand is of paramount importance to be able to test our products accurately. We also put a great deal of focus on the collaboration between engineers and personnel from the service, assembly and warranty departments. They know what goes wrong out in the field, and can feed back those experiences to develop the CTS.

wie z.B. Dehnmessstreifen, welche Rückschlüsse auf die physikalischen Kräfte während der Fahrt und auf dem Prüfstand zulassen. Der Vergleich zwischen realem Fahrbetrieb und Prüfstand ist extrem wichtig, damit wir realistisch prüfen. Der CTS ist gleichzeitig eine große Hilfe für unsere Konstrukteure. Mit der Finiten-Element-Methode werden Berechnungen am Computermodell durchgeführt, bei denen die gewonnenen Daten aus Labor und Praxis herangezogen werden. Dadurch können Spannungen im Material analysiert werden und noch vor dem ersten Testlauf mit Prototypen bis in kleinste Detail optimiert werden.

Our in-house test standards also help our manufacturing partners. By using Finite Element Analysis using real loads and actual values for stresses and strains, the use of materials in the frame can be optimized for minimum weight but at a safe level of strength for the intended use. Our designers have input into this process too – our frames have to perform well and be durable, of course, but they also have to look good. Shape and function must be coordinated.

Das Lastenheft der Produktmanager und die Anforderungen der Designer werden auf einander abgestimmt, damit Form und Funktion perfekt harmonieren. Ist der virtuelle Rahmen am Computer zur Zufriedenheit aller Mitwirkenden konstruiert, so nutzen wir die Möglichkeit mit unserem 3D-Drucker ein Kunststoffmodell im Maßstab 1:1 anzufertigen. So können wir das Design noch besser auf uns wirken lassen und bereits die Montagefähigkeit von Komponenten prüfen. In kürzester Zeit erhalten wir einen fundierten ersten Eindruck der erstellten Konzepte. Der nächste Schritt findet bei unseren Lieferanten in Asien vor Ort statt. Zusammen wird die Produktionsfähigkeit des Rahmendesigns geprüft und gegebenfalls eine Anpassung vorgenommen. Die Prototypen aus der Pilotproduktion werden für weitere Tests direkt nach Waldershof geschickt. Sobald die Rahmen in Waldershof angekommen sind, gehen Exemplare an alle beteiligten Abteilungen. Das Produktmanagement und Engineering kontrolliert alle Anforderungen und führt erste Testfahrten für Geometriebewertung oder Fahrwerkssetup durch. Die Grafikdesigner erarbeiten Farbdesigns und passen Artworks an, die Qualitätssicherung und Produktion besprechen

Once the virtual frame, developed on computer, meets everybody’s requirements, rapid prototyping technology is used to produce a full-scale plastic model. This gives a realistic impression of the frame in the minimum amount of time – the design can be more readily appreciated, graphic concepts can be tried out and it’s even possible to mount components. The next step takes place at our manufacturers in Asia. Between us we have to work out how the new frame design can be manufactured – occasionally this may mean slightly changing the design. A number of prototypes are produced and sent to Waldershof for further testing. Once arrived in Waldershof the frames go to the various departments. Product management and engineering check all their requirements and do initial test rides for evaluating geometry or chassis setup. Graphic designers work out colour designs and patterns. Production planning and assembly can coordinate components – for example, cable and hose length. And test engineers can do the necessary CTS testing.

Erst wenn alle Tests erfolgreich durchlaufen sind und alle am Projekt involvierten Mitarbeiter eine Freigabe erteilt haben, bekommen unsere Hersteller den Auftrag für die Serienproduktion. Damit wir auch während der Fertigung eine konstante Qualität sicherstellen können, sowie einen permanenten Einblick haben, sind unsere Mitarbeiter regelmäßig zur Kontrolle in Asien und überwachen die Prozesse. Die erforderliche Qualität wird täglich in der Produktion in Waldershof von unserer Qualitätssicherung stichprobenartig überprüft. Bei all unseren Carbonbauteilen gehen wir noch einen Schritt weiter und unterziehen jede Komponente einer ausführlichen Überprüfung, bevor sie in die Produktion gegeben wird.

Only if all tests are passed and documented successfully and everybody involved in the project has given their approval is our manufacturer awarded the order. To guarantee constant quality during the manufacturing process, CUBE staff are on site in the factory regularly. Quality control checks are also done before assembly in Waldershof. In the case of carbon frames, every frame is checked. We dedicate all our knowledge and bike enthusiasm to new developments. Through intense team work by engineers, designers and product managers we’ve united our customers’ desires with regard to design, performance, comfort, functionality, features and safety in one product. We’re sure this is worth the effort and will continue to propel innovation with our ambition and fun.

Deshalb haben wir für 2015 noch einmal alle Komponenten, die für den Komfort verantwortlich sind, überarbeitet. Für ein Höchstmaß an Sicherheit und Zuverlässigkeit kommen ausschließlich wartungsarme und hochwertige Komponenten zum Einsatz.

The newly designed frame generation of the Urban Life Series for 2015 has new various innovations such as hydroformed oversized tubes, strengthened bottom bracket- and head tube areas, Double Chain Stays and the twin cabin seat tube, a perfect integration of the Bosch drive system and thereby, the maximum of driving safety. Our well praised Efficient Comfort Geometry brings the driver a comfortable sitting position, in which you can sit comfortably on the saddle for hours. Comfort doesn’t end with the frame geometry, but rather continues with the contact points to the body. With that in mind, we re-edited all components responsible for comfort for 2015. For maximum security and reliability, lowmaintenance and valuable components are used.

Integrated Modular Carrier Der Integrierte Gepäckträger ist eine komplette Neuentwicklung von CUBE. Der Gepäckträger erhöht als integrales Bauteil des Rahmens die Steifigkeit des Fahrwerks. Dabei ist die Auflage des Trägers durch eine speziell entworfene modulare Bauweise vielseitig erweiterbar. Taschen, Haltesysteme und Boxen können schnell, einfach und sicher befestigt werden. The Integrated Modular Carrier is a completely new development by CUBE. The bicycle rack becomes an integral part of the frame, adding to the rigidity of the chassis. Through a specially designed modular construction, the rack is expandable in many ways. Bags, carrying systems and boxes can be mounted easily and safely for secure, convenient load carrying.

Easy Mount Kickstand Bei dieser eigens von CUBE entwickelten Ständeraufnahme wird der Fahrradständer von unten an die speziell geformte Rahmenaufnahme aufgesteckt und von oben stabil mit einer Schraube fixiert. Vor allem bei Zuladung zahlt sich diese Konstruktion, dank großer Abstützfläche, über eine hohe Steifigkeit aus. The Easy Mount Kickstand is a new system developed and designed by CUBE. The base of the stand is mounted to a fitting plate integrated to the frame and fixed with a through bolt. This kickstand is extremely stiff and solid through the enlarged contact area between base and frame, giving a stable stand even with fully-loaded panniers.

The Delhi Hybrid SL comes stock with the multifunctional Bosch Nyon Display, which offers navigation, fitness and multimedia functionality and so starts a new era of E-Mobility. For maximum puncture protection the SL rolls on Schwalbe’s Marathon Plus "flatless" tires.

Optimal Drive Position Um die Steifigkeit im gesamten Tretlagerbereich zu erhöhen und einen tiefen Schwerpunkt zu erlangen, haben wir unseren E-Bikes eine spezielle Motoraufnahme spendiert. Diese nimmt den Akku extrem tief im Rahmen auf. Unterstützt wird dieser Effekt durch den sehr komplexen Tretlagerbereich. Dieser enthält die Motoraufnahme, den Schwingendrehpunkt und das Dämpferauge. To lower the center of gravity and achieve an agile riding experience we spend our E-Bikes a new innovative frame construction. The extremly stiff bottom bracket area, which act as the cradle for the electric motor, the pivot for the rear swingarm and the lower shock mount. The groove in the front section with the specially formed down tube accommodates the battery, giving it a very low position in the frame triangle.

Our revolutionary Hybrid Hardtail E-MTB line has many improvements and enhancements for 2015. We’ve introduced a women-specific E-MTB in the form of the Access WLS – finally, power assistance and geometry optimised for women in a single bike. The Access WLS has 27.5" wheels on smaller sizes and 29" wheels on larger sizes, and 27.5" wheels find their way on to other Hybrid Hardtails too. The SUV urban E-Bike has a new frame design, giving even more control and agility – perfect for the city streets. The Reaction Hybrid has a 27.5" version too. And then there’s the new Elite Hybrid, which shows how far E-Bikes have come. The Elite is a unique combination of high-end carbon fibre frame, premium components and state of the art Bosch power assistance. The bottom bracket area is made from two forged halves, which together act as the cradle for the electric motor, the pivot for the rear swingarm and the lower shock mount. For us, E-Bikes aren’t just for the streets or easy trails – they have a place out in the mountains too, taking on technical terrain and challenging trails. Tapered Head TUbe Der untere Lagersitz am Steuerrohr ist eine Rahmenpartie mit extrem hohen Lastspitzen. Lager mit 1.5" Oversized Durchmesser können diese spürbar besser aufnehmen und erhöhen so Bremssteifigkeit und Lenkpräzision. This steerer tube design is stiffer than a conventional straight steerer and yields a more secure ride feel even in difficult terrain. Minimal flex at the front of the frame means the greatest possible steering precision. Even the forks become more rigid having a tapered steerer.

Die oft mehrfach umgeformten Rohre erlauben es uns leichtere und zugleich steifere Alu-Rahmen zu fertigen. With this technology we can mechanically transform different frame tubes and thus optimize them without material-wearing welding work for the respective requirements. Multiple converted tubes enable us to manufacture lighter and also stiffer aluminium frames.

Über die Schalt- und Bremsperformance der Shimano XT Gruppe muss man keine weiteren Worte verlieren: Sie gilt schlechthin als Referenz in Sachen Funktion und Zuverlässigkeit. Mit dem zusätzlichen XTR Schaltwerk kann man aber nochmal ein paar Gramm Gewicht einsparen. Auch bei der rotierenden Masse wurde mit den CSW MA 2.9 Systemlaufrädern, mit maximal zuverlässiger DT Swiss Technik, wertvolle Gramm gespart. Die superleichte Suntour NRX S RL-R Lite Luftfedergabel ist vielfältig einstellbar, lässt sich vom Lenker aus blockieren und senkt das Gewicht durch ihren konischen Aluschaft noch weiter.

Every gram saved improves ride dynamics and pushes the enjoyment of riding your bike. For that purpose the Tonopah SL comes with an exclusive Syntace carbon cockpit, a comfortable CUBE Carbon Motion seat post and a cutting edge Fi'zi:k Tundra carbon saddle. There is little need to talk about the shifting and braking performance of the complete Shimano XT group set - it's simply the current benchmark in terms of function and reliability. With the upgrade to an XTR rear derailleur there was some extra weight saving possible. Of course we looked at rotational mass as well and thus specified the CSW MA 2.9 wheels, which feature dependable DT Swiss technology at a very low weight. The Suntour NRX S RL-R Lite air suspension fork is multi-adjustable, has a remote lock out and saves further weight with the tapered alloy steerer tube.

Our Superlite tubes are double butted, giving very light tubesets with a high level of stiffness.
