The Optimal Selection Adsorbents can be used to remove a wide range of impurities. Their large inner surfaces are created by an intricate system of pores. The structure of the surface is relevant to the targeted application. The pores in e.g. activated charcoal are of widely differing sizes, so it is possible for different sized molecules to adhere. In contrast, the pore sizes in a molecular sieve are clearly defined. This enables the targeted removal of molecules of a certain size and chemistry.
