Why are you running for GISD School Board? *
I understand what makes Gunter awesome is Gunter ISD. Gunter’s greatness being due to the ISD, the community and its leaders, was apparent to Kathy and I before we moved here. These ideals have become even more obvious the greater amount of time we have become involved in GIFT and GISD. I want to continue to build upon Gunter’s traditions and values while embracing the inevitable growth we will experience. Change is coming, but we must maintain the foundation of excellent schools.
What are your top three priority issues? *
1 . Why are you running for GISD School Board? *
The growth we're experiencing and will continue to experience over the next couple of decades in Gunter will be a challenging time for both the community as a whole and the school district. How we manage that growth will weigh heavily on the people we elect to guide it. As a resident and business owner in Gunter and having a daughter attending Gunter ISD, I have a vested interest in ensuring that the school district doesn't just maintain its current status, but continues to improve. It's imperative that we elect individuals with experience and success in team-building, creative growth, and leadership to guide us through it. As a former firefighter/paramedic with Dallas Fire-Rescue, I have a heart for community service and as a business owner, I have the experience to do just that. In addition, my desire to continue working and volunteering for my community places me in a position to be an asset to the school board and the community.

As a parent of two children in our schools, I have a very vested interest in ensuring that we maintain the excellence that now exists in Gunter ISD. I believe that our School Board needs educators, like me, who have experience in the classroom and working with the day-to-day operations of a school district.

Why are you running for GISD School Board? *
I am running to bridge the gap in communication between the board and the community. I am running to bring transparency, ease of access to school board meetings, and increase community participation without fear of retaliation. I am running to develop a culture that retains quality educators so our students can depend on consistency in a stable environment. I am running for the parents and educators that have tried to address issues or concerns with the district and administration that have been ignored or dismissed.
