To help achieve the ambitious business excellence goals of our strategic plan, 4-H Canada and its provincial partners collaborate through our Standards & Youth Safety Working Group, which is focused on carry out ongoing work to support world-class youth development standards and youth safety.

Youth Safety Training

Following on the momentum of the standardized Youth Safety Training, implemented in 2020-2021, 4-H Canada successfully developed and launched the Youth Safety Refresher Course in early 2022.

The Youth Safety Refresher Course is the next step in advancing the 4-H movement as a leader in meeting or exceeding industry standards in the youth-serving sector by supporting 4-H leaders in understanding, communicating, and implementing youth safety screening and training requirements. Required every three years, the Youth Safety Refresher Course keeps leaders up to date on industry-standard Youth Safety and Commit to Kids training. Over 600 leaders and staff completed the Youth Safety Refresher Course in the 2022-2023 fiscal year.

• Provide access to resources and learning opportunities for 4-H professionals and governors to continue to grow in leading the business of 4-H.

• Conduct research and gain insights on external and internal audiences to support provinces refining target audiences, and deepen the understanding of opportunities in youth sector markets.

• 650 activity plans completed

• 1157 leaders completed the Child Protection Training

• 608 leaders completed the Youth Safety Refresher Course
