General Information Situation By default, Sony’s SMS software for SRX-R220 & SRX-R320 does not have the Ghostbuster Feature enabled. Customers who have a contract with RealD should have this Feature enable to ensure the best quality 3D presentations. Scope All Sony Cinema Projectors with RealD’s XLS Cinema System. The Projector’s Main System software must be revision 2.01 or higher. Solution Obtain and install the License Key to activate the system. If necessary, upload the file with the default Ghostbuster values (Appendix A), or manually program the default Ghostbuster values into the system (Appendix B).

Activating the Ghostbuster Feature Obtaining the License Key To obtain the License Key you will need the LMT Serial Number. If you know the LMT Serial Number, skip to step 5 of the sequence below. If you do not have the LMT Serial Number, please follow the steps below to get it: 1. 2. 3. 4. 5.
Use SMS-C to communicate with the system via Ethernet (preferred) or RS-232. In the SMS Communicator select the ‘Media Block’ tab. On this tab select the ‘Info’ section. Identify the LMT ‘Serial No.’ (Figure 1). Email the LMT Serial Number to cinema-support@reald.com. a. Enter ‘SONY GB LICENSE KEY REQUEST’ in the email’s subject line. b. Multiple Keys for multiple LMT Serial Numbers can be requested in an email if the LMT Serial Numbers are submitted in an Excel spread sheet. 6. In most cases the License Key will be emailed back within 2 days.

Use SMS-C to communicate with the system via Ethernet (preferred) or RS-232. In the SMS Communicator select the ‘Projector’ tab. On this tab select the ‘Ghostbuster’ section. Type in the License Key (Figure 2). Select the ‘Apply’ button. When the Ghostbuster has been enabled, the letters “GB” will appear in magenta next to the “3D” icon at the bottom of the SMS-C interface and in the same location on the SMS projector interface (Figure 3).

Verifying the Correct Default Ghostbuster Settings are Active 1. 2. 3. 4. 5.
Connect to the projector with the SRX Controller via Ethernet (preferred) or RS-232. In the SRX Controller select the ‘Maintenance’ tab. In the ‘Ghost Busters’ section select the ‘Adjust’ Button (Figure 4). Confirm the settings match the RealD Defaults (Figure 5, Figure 6 Figure 7). If the values do not match please follow the instructions in Appendix A or Appendix B. a. Appendix A explains how to upload the file with the default Ghostbuster values. b. Appendix B explains how to manually program the default Ghostbuster values into the system.

Ghostbuster Operation Once you have enabled your systems GhostBuster it will automatically be active for all 3D playlists.

Apendix A - Loading the File with the Default Ghostbuster Values Overview The file (gb.spd) with the default Ghostbuster values needs to be loaded into the Media Block to establish the correct settings. Note: Loading the file with the Default Ghostbuster Values requires the NVM.Backup Program. At this time, only certified Sony Installers have access to this software. Procedure 1. Installation requires the projector is in ‘Stand By’ and cool, or the program will not download the file. 2. Attach your computer to the projector via Ethernet (preferred) or RS-232. 3. Have the default Ghostbuster file (gb.spd) on your computer. 4. Restore the file (gb.spd) using the NVM.Backup program a. Select restore b. Select and load the gb.spd file c. Select projector setting ONLY 5. After restore is complete, power cycle projector. 6. Repeat the steps in Section 3 on page 4 to confirm the values are properly loaded. 7. If the values are still not correct please see Appendix B to set the values manually.

Apendix B – Manually Programming the Default Ghostbuster Values Overview If it is not possible to download the file (gb.spd) with the default Ghostbuster values, the values can be manually entered. Procedure 1. Connect to the projector with the SRX Controller via Ethernet (preferred) or RS-232. 2. In the SRX Controller select the ‘Maintenance’ tab. 3. In the ‘Ghost Buster’ section select the ‘Adjust’ Button (Figure 8).
