THANK YOU NATURE CENTER VOLUNTEERS!

The Nature Center is very fortunate to have volunteers who remain at TGO in the summer and take care of the year-round responsibilities and we have volunteers who are away from TGO but still work on Nature Center activities. A big Nature Center THANK YOU to all our volunteers who kept the Nature Center engine running this summer! We truly appreciate you!

THANK YOU GEORGE AND KAREN MATTILA!

We want to thank George and Karen Mattila for purchasing and installing a new gutter system for the lawn mower shed. It should help the flooding in that area that we have been experiencing. Sandy Juba

SNAKE RESCUE!

While working on the nature trail with Firewise one of our team found a scarlet kingsnake on a small palm tree we were working on. When it fell out of the tree into a bed of large ants I picked it up and after sharing it with the crew released it on another cabbage palm. Betty Salter Editor’s Note: Betty Salter created an awesome “Snakes Of The Great Outdoors” tri-fold brochure. When you open the first flap, you can see a side by side comparison of the non-venomous Scarlet Kingsnake and the venomous Coral Snake. The brochures are on the round oak table in the Nature Center Library. They are a perfect size to carry in your golf cart.

Bring any brand of used ink cartridges (we no longer accept the large toner cartridges) for us to recycle and help defray some of our supplies, printing and mailing costs. Please put cartridges on the Nature Center library desk as it has an acrylic top covering it to protect it. By putting the cartridges in a used plastic grocery bag also helps to protect our assets from cartridge leaks. Please call Sandy Juba at 321-543-0502 with any questions. Thank you!
