Includes one Installation Tool, one Step Drill Bit, eight Jack Nuts and eight Thumbscrews and two Machine Screws. If you have two A/C units, you will have 16 Jack Nuts and Thumbscrews CAUTION! Wear safety glasses during installation
Installation Instructions
Fig1: Remove the four Phillips screws from return air vent.
Fig 2 A : The 5/16 mark is the second step on the bit.
Fig 2 B: Drill out existing holes to 5/16” with the provided bit Caution: Do not use a standard twist drill to drill these holes.
Fig 3: Load the installation tool with the Jack Nut and Machine Screw
Fig 4: Fully insert the Jack Nut into the 5/16” hole(s) in the ceiling one at a time. Compress the handle on installation tool multiple times until the Jack Nut is compresssed. The tool operates somewhat like a rivet gun.
Once the Jack Nut is secure, pull the trigger release on the installation tool and remove the screw from the Jack Nutleaving a threaded Jack Nut for the Thumbscrews.
Fig 5: Install the Machine Screw you just removed from the first Jack Nut and use it for the remaining Jack Nuts. Repeat the process until all holes have Jack Nuts installed.
Fig 6: Use the provided Thumbscrews and reinstall the vent covers. Repeat steps above on each of your return air vents and the installation is complete.
NOTE: Now is a good time to clean your filters while your vents are down. Don’t forget to put your filters back in!
