• Served as the landscape designer during the competition and design stages, responsible for conceptual design, construction drawings, documents and modeling, rendering animations, presentation development.

• As a construction supervisor, ensure the demolition of existing buildings on the site and the protection of existing trees in the early construction preparation stage.

• Attend construction meetings, observation, and communicate with government departments and construction enterprises.

• Responsible for the project's construction schedule, and budget management

Along with the prolongation of average life expectancy, the statistics of the Ministry of the Interior in 2014 shows that the average remaining life of our country is 80 years old.

This project is to cooperate with government policies, invests in long-term care. Through the assessment of the environment, population, long-term care needs, environment, and cultural characteristics, and in conjunction with the planning of the Dapojiao Lohas Park in Taoyuan City, a new residential long-term care institution was built in the base to provide Guanyin District, Taoyuan City. Residential services such as resettlement for the elderly in neighboring areas, child care and maintenance for the physically and mentally handicapped.

In terms of the landscape design concept of this case, we believe that the long-term care institution is not just a hospital or shelter, it will become a warm home for the inmates. In addition to meeting the important functions of shelters and hospitals, such as circulation planning and infrastructure, this home should also provide a comfortable external space for the shelter. Elderly and sick, you can walk with your family and friends in this new home rebuilt from an abandoned camp, stop under the shade of preserved old trees, feel the nature, talk and laugh, and the landscape will be the best care for them.

Configuration Strategy

Develop and configure according to user needs and functions.

STEP 1 - Spatial Quantization

Simulate usage to calculate space requirements.

STEP 2 - Separate Building

Divide space functions according to institutional attributes for easy control.

After a detailed and precise site survey, the building configuration was adjusted to ensure the growth environment of existing trees and the integrity of the open space. In addition, this move will save more precious old trees.

In the original plan, a total of five trees were preserved on site.

STEP 3 - Lower height / Differentiate between public and private areas

Provide more indoor space for horizontal movement and a more intimate space scale, distinguish between medical services and residential areas.

STEP 4 - Open up the space and introduce the green belt

On-site investigation, five additional trees were retained.

Create a series of atriums and patios to provide more relaxed units and comfortable ventilation and lighting.

STEP 5 - Building Orientation Adjustment

Provide a wider view of the landscape garden between units; create high-quality rest corners for indoor public spaces; form a variety of public spaces.

STEP 6 - Connect Space

Introduce lighting and public rest areas indoors; and create entrances and landscaped inner courts; the moving lines of various institutions are clearly separated.

Adjust the configuration of the entrance hall to retain four additional trees.

Due to its terrain and location close to the coast, it will be disturbed by the northeast monsoon in winter. In addition, indoor and outdoor spaces, functions such as sunlight, temperature regulation and ventilation are all important design considerations.

Entering the center from the main entrance, the main square is the first thing that catches the eyes. The east and west courtyards that match the building clusters are connected in series by a pedestrian system, becoming an important space for daily activities. The healing garden located in the inner courtyard provides a more private and exquisite landscape space.

- Taipei Public House Development Project

• Served as the landscape designer during the basic design, detail design stages, responsible for conceptual design, construction drawings, documents and modeling, rendering animations, presentation development.

• Collaborated with civil engineer, hydraulic engineer on the drainage system design, site Planning.

• Developed planting plan, street furniture design, pavement design.

• Attend construction meetings, observation, and communicate with government departments and construction enterprises.

In response to the needs of social facilities and public housing, taking factors into consideration and implementing housing justice, the construction of public housing is different from the interests of commercial buildings. The design provides residents with low-rent, high-quality living space; in addition, it may provide a variety of public facilities. spaces to enhance a sense of neighborhood community among residents.

The original space of Kuang Tzu Po Ai Campus is composed of several courtyards, where residents gather, chat, and have activities. It is an important place to condense the spirit. This project sets back the open space along the street and establishes a complete pedestrian path to connect the surrounding space system. The facade design and sunshade design in all directions provide an energy-saving and comfortable living environment and create rich changes in light and shadow. The overall architecture uses modern vocabulary and earth tones to present the characteristics of this public housing project.

Po Ai Public Housing

Site Analysis

The site of this project is located in Xinyi District, Taipei City. Formerly known as Kuang Tzu Po Ai Campus, a social welfare institution. The site itself is one of the few large open spaces in the East District, surrounded by mostly existing apartments. In the future, public facilities such as an MRT station will be set up on the south side.

Design Concept

This project plans to construct a two-building building with 28 floors above ground and four floors underground, including public housing, social welfare institutions, childcare centers and other space uses.

Planning Framework

The project covers an area of 6.4 hectares and is divided into four areas ABCD. The base of this case is Area C.

Landscape Frameworks

1.The landscape space is planned with the concept of "sharing" and the park space is jointly created with other areas in the overall development to shorten the distance between each other.

2.Preserve the original trees and create the image of an urban forest.

3.Integrate ecological concepts, set up rain gardens, and create an urban ecosystem.

4.Provide healing gardens and urban farms to give people a space to relax.

Sustainable and Resilient Open Space Design

The boundaries between sidewalks and planting strips are made of smooth dark permeable bricks combined with gravel paving, so that surface runoff can be smoothly drained into the drainage system and the planting beds. Multi-layered plants of local native species, such as Tuberous Sword Fern and Cyelon Myrtle, are used to soften the boundaries of the sidewalk.

The main design focus of the public seats is to reduce the bulk of street furniture and combine it with functionality.

The choice of wood-plastic composite recycled materials is not only environmentally friendly, but also increases its durability in the local humid climate.

In addition, in accordance with the client's requirements, stainless steel handrails were also added during the detailed design stage.

Existing Trees and Facilities Interface Design

The interface between the existing trees on the site and the public sidewalk is also the focus of the design of this project.

The relationship between these trees, existing sidewalks and ditches is complex, and community residents are also concerned that overgrown roots will damage surrounding facilities. Therefore, we cooperate with professional consultants such as water conservancy technicians and structural technicians to adjust the drainage ditch structure and plan the root guide system to achieve a balance between tree preservation and space design.

Ensure plant growing environment and facility durability in detailed design

Use detailed strategies to reduce the impact of existing trees and newly planted trees on facilities.

The interface between the sidewalks, existing trees and ditches outside the site boundary is barrier-free.

Increase the atmosphere and interest of the space through changes in pavement and lighting

Convenient

In the site, where it rains a lot and sunshine is scarce, the design hopes to have both functions of rain protection and sunlight transmission. Therefore, in the detailed design of the top cover, screen-printed glass was chosen to take into account both practicality and cost.

In addition, by increasing the distance between columns and hiding the structure below the ground, it will be more convenient for people with mobility impairments to use.

Design details focusing on user experience and landscape harmony

The height of the corridor is flush with the building and extends outwards, reducing the sense of oppression through the higher head space.

In addition, the drainage system is hidden in the column and the lighting is placed at a higher position to avoid unnecessary structures that affect the appearance and use.

On sunny days, the sunlight falling through the glass

Connect the outdoor pick-up and drop-off area, square and activity area, and keep the circulation smooth.

Residential Floor Public Balcony (6~28F)

The public balconies in the building are designed with the concept of a courtyard. By combining flower bench seats and movable furniture, residents can define the size of their own space. Between the balcony and the living space, shrubs and green walls are used to ensure privacy.

The public balcony located on the 6th floor between the two residential buildings has become the concentration of major public facilities due to its larger space and the nature of connecting the two buildings. For example: urban farms for the elderly in care centers and playgrounds for children.

Planting Plan

In addition to choosing native Taiwanese plants that are easy to care for, are low in height and will not block the view. In the direction facing the strong northeast monsoon, small trees, shrubs, etc. are also used to reduce the impact of strong winds.

Tree Dynamic Support System

1.This system requires at least three non-rigid fixed ropes, surrounding the main branches of the tree (Φ>8cm), and the fixed points should be protected by soft pads. The other end is fixed to the structure by steel cables and expansion bolts.

Taiwan Power Company training building new plan

• Assist the senior landscape designer and architects in planning the entire center.

• As a landscape designer, design the paving, furniture materials, topography and circulation of open spaces.

• Produce briefings, design concept drawings, animations, 3D models and rendering during the competition stage

Established in 1951, the "Training Institute Headquarters" is located in Xindian Mountain, with beautiful green mountains and green waters. For nearly 70 years, it has not only shouldered the heavy responsibility of cultivating talents, but also held important ceremonial venues for freshman training and retirement gatherings, carrying the wishes of every Taipower employee. memory.

However, with the change of time and organizational transformation, the space of the center no longer meets the needs. In order to create the space atmosphere of the exclusive training center, Taiwan Power Construction Office fully discussed with the training center and carried out professional preliminary planning.

Although the main axis of this case is the reconstruction of the comprehensive building in the training center, we believe that this new construction plan will have a huge impact on the entire training center, and it is an opportunity to re-examine and plan the center. The buildings in the existing center are independent, and the open space is fragmented and lacks integration.

By linking the nature of the building with the state of use, the surrounding environment, and considering the needs of users after future reconstruction, we hope to create a home with a sense of belonging and a dream for the employees of Taiwan Power Company and the training center.

03 Natural Power Storage -

Storage Station

Configuration Strategy

Reorganize the layout of the open space and shape a variety of outdoor leisure areas.

Accessibility corridors, elevators, building corridors and halls meander through the spaces, connecting the sun-shaded and rain-proof barrier-free paths around the field.

Planning Framework

The balance between user activities and the site environment is the focus of the design, and native planting is the choice of planting design.

In addition, in the planning of the pavement and moving line system, it is ensured that pedestrians, bicycles and other slow-moving systems can move safely and smoothly.

Effective zonal stormwater management according to terrain. Make good use of existing green resources, retain existing trees and sort out miscellaneous trees according to the needs of use, plan to plant new trees and shrubs, and use building roofs to set up gardens and solar panels.

A new look for an existing space

The image plaza serves as the main visual of the park, and the pavement design matches the existing "cable tray" public art, presenting the concept of Plug into the Nature, that is, Taipower employees migrate, learn with nature, live and learn, and "recharge". The original design intention of natural symbiosis is presented in the form of landscape, and the night lighting presents an atmosphere of earth breathing between light and dark rhythms.

With the redesigned railings, the rhythmic shape and the characteristics of visual penetration, combined with the bus waiting area and sidewalks, present the park's creativity and the concept of creating new vitality to the crowd.

Passing through the hallway of the administrative building, you can see the open activity lawn inside and the magnificent mountains behind the park. The noisy sounds of the students in the training center moving on the lawn come and go, together with the public art standing aside, the sound of falling water and greenery, it seems like walking into a beautiful fairyland.

04 CIENEGA DEL DIQUE

- Pasacaballos : From Magdalena to Bay

The Canal Del Dique connects the Cartagena Bay and Magdalena River. Its appearance was a sudden force that disturbed the natural balance amongst those two water bodies and interior cienegas. The canal opened the access of tremendous sediments running from the river to the bay and created edges between water and local communities. Moreover, it was the mark of Spanish colonial extraction of the environment and people. The locals have been suffering from the injustice consequences of the industrial development by the Canal.

Our project aims to address on the multifaceted frictions caused by the linear canal by reconstructing the connected cienega system and bringing back the resilient open wetness in this region. We would apply multi-scaled cienegas composed of different urban infrastructures and vegetation to create triple-layered protection for communities and support local strength tones to combat contemporary economic extraction.

The canal del dique, built by Spanish colonists in the 18th century, was used to transport resources from Colombia to Europe. Colonizers expanded the canal for large barges and ships… change the landscape, transforming gradient water system to linear canal.

Concept

Tragedy of Canal System

In 2010, the flooding from this spanish project left 42000 homes damaged, and this tragedy lasted for 2 years.

Opportunity of Cienega System

We want to start from the small scale based on the community location, expanding the cienega, connect it, and recover it.

The interconnected cienegas will significantly strengthen the resilience of flood and pollution in this region.

Site Analysis

Using local GIS data, we overlaid runoff, elevation systems, and site conditions to classify the Pasacaballos community into four main sites and identified their main issues and potential: Low-lying and close to the waterfront Facing problems such as flooding and ecological damage from upstream. Areas with densely populated residential areas are subject to domestic waste pollution and industrial decline.

Community Engagement & Strategy

We worked with the local community development association and went out into the community to talk to fishermen, artists, and educators to understand their ideas and needs for the land.

Finally, a strategy was proposed with wetland restoration as the main carrier and combining four aspects: ecological restoration, life construction, industrial development, and culture and education. These four aspects will be practiced in initiative way at the site, and extend from the bottom up to the entire canal basin, using the Pasacaballos community as a model.

Cienega System & Stakeholder

In order to extend the strategy to the entire wetland system, we propose to cooperate with these stakeholders: including the relevant government agriculture and breeding departments, cultural development associations, community self-governing associations, environmental organizations, etc. The connection between these different professional organizations will take wetland as the main body and become a complete and sustainable cycle.

NEW COAST LIFE

- Fulong Coastal Settlement Development Vision Plan

What is your vision of a wonderful coastal lifestyle?

In Taiwan, an island surrounded by water, most people still view the sea and the coastal areas somewhere they temporarily stay and enjoy their leisure time. As a result, many of Taiwan’s coastal settlements became prosperous shortly and declined rapidly after tourists moved away to seek new attractions.

However, living on the coast is the most intimate and the best choice to feel the beauty of nature. Looking at the entire densely populated northern Taiwan, the Fulong settlement is located in the northeast corner. It has rich cultural resources such as historical development texture and emerging festival activities. At the same time, the geographical conditions at the junction of mountains, seas and rivers have brought Fulong rich natural resources: vast beaches, continuous mountains and rivers, and endless sea horizons. In recent years, due to the intervention of external forces from tourism and the decline of the old settlement space, the relationship between this land and the settlements living on it and the coast has gradually changed.

Therefore, under such a background, we hope to change the development of Fulong settlement and people's impression of coastal life, regain a balance between people, nature and culture, and create a new coastal settlement where people and nature are connected.

Analysis

Fulong is located in the northeast corner of Taiwan. This area is designated as a nature reserve by the government because of its unique natural resources. And Fulong includes the natural resources of the entire nature reserve in this area - from the largest beach in northern Taiwan, shallow mountains with various species, estuary ecosystems, unique coastal windbreak forests, and coastal ecosystems composed of reefs. It can be said that this place is like the epitome of the entire nature reserve.

In addition, settlements and historical development have also left traces of humanity here. Unique stone structures can be found here, from the scale of the houses to the scale of the open spaces reflecting past life styles. The existence of the semi-abandoned fishing port has witnessed the history of the development of the settlement, and the temples that are at the peak of incense still play an important role in the center of belief.

Development History

In the 1800s, two warm and cold currents: the Oyashio and Kuroshio currents met here, bringing precious fish resources and giving birth to fishing settlements.

活的平埔族。來台時最初的 登陸地點,目前在臺灣東北 部的三貂灣雙溪河口處附近

In 1979, the opening of the northern coastal road drove the development of tourism in the northeast corner.

Taiwan's Pingpu people drifted from overseas and landed at the mouth of the river in the northeast corner of Taiwan, where they established their earliest settlements.

In the 1900s, the construction of the Yilan Line of the Japanese-era railway was completed. The two northeast corner stations of Gongliao and Fulong have become transportation hubs, bringing about the vigorous development of settlements.

Since 2000, Fulong has become the venue for Sand Sculpture Festival and Ocean Music Festival.

The stone houses made of local materials have become the characteristic buildings of the local settlements.

As settlements develop. Fulong has become a unique faith and settlement center in the northeast corner.

Diversity of Natural Environment and Activities

Since 2006, the opening of alternative roads has led to a reduction in the transportation of coastal roads and railways, and the development of settlements has declined

Existing Issue

A broken environment is a slow poison that destroys settlements.

The busy coastal road runs through the settlement, and the traffic flow close to the buildings becomes a negative space for the settlement life. The abandoned and unorganized buildings have become dirty and dangerous corners in the settlement.External and internal factors turned Fulong into a dying settlement.

Concept

Beautiful art culture and nature are powerful forces.

Using landscape design methods and in line with the government’s development plan, the dilapidated settlement space is reorganized, and it is used as a carrier for Fulong’s unique nature, history, culture, and leisure activities. Linked activities bring continuous attraction to this place, and use this opportunity to improve the environment of residents and the settlement management model, so as to obtain a sustainable and co-prosperous life.

The Ocean Music Festival is named Ho-Hai-Yan, which is the most beautiful praise of the ocean by Taiwanese aborigines. It is hoped that young people can treat and cherish this whirling ocean and beautiful island again.

Design Strategy

Collect surface runoff to create open space water features. 2. Retreat the open space beside the road to reduce the impact.
4. Ensure open spaces enjoy sunlight and views.
6. The integration of moving lines and alleys reduces dead space. 8. Through the height difference, create a sense of spatial hierarchy.

Inject new vitality into the existing settlement space

The inaccessible river bank creates a water-friendly space through the retreat of buildings, so that the stream that was originally separated from the settlement becomes a part of the living space.

The fishing port, which has been reduced in use due to the decline of the fishing industry, has become an excellent water-friendly and scenic rest space.

The original rigid and boring settlement space and wasteland are guided by the height difference and visual end view, with plants and water features, etc., to create a rich spatial experience.

Through the configuration and site preparation of windbreaks, a pocket space between windbreaks > residences > roads is created, allowing people to enjoy the sea view and night view on the grass slope without being affected by the northeast monsoon.
