Current Problems Based on fieldwork, including outside interviews, some current problems related to clothes drying procedures were uncovered. As the problems were defined, a survey was given to 59 subjects to evaluate common problems. The following descriptions demonstrate problems that at least one third of the subjects often face when drying clothes.

Problems of hanging clothes 1. Different types of hangers need to be used depending on clothing type 2. Scraps of tissue stick to clothes due to unchecked pocket contents 3. clothes are wrinkled after doing laundry 4. Repetitive actions for reducing wrinkles

Problems of drying clothes 5. Wet clothes dry slowly on cloudy or rainy days 6. Wind crowds clothing together, preventing fast drying 7. Clothes are blown away by wind 8. Baggy pants easily fall off 9. Hanging clothes causes deformation

Problems of gathering clothes 13. Clothes cannot be gathered quickly from the outside when it rains 14. Dryed clothes bunched together when carried inside before folding, causing wrinkles

Problems with clothes drying space 10. Lack of privacy in visible spaces for hanging underwear 11. Public clothes drying areas are not clean 12. A windowsill in a suite is too small to dry clothes

Current Challenge Based on the dramatic impact of a quickly-changing environment upon the aquaculture industry, ďŹ sh have been dying in large numbers from diseases and changes in water temperature due to rising sea levels, global warming and rainfall anomalies.

G l o b a l Tre n d

The trend of ďŹ sh health monitoring has become more important with each passing year, for instance, new rules on the health of farmed ďŹ sh have been adopted by the European Commission in 2005. The Japanese Health Ministry has implemented a positive list system to inspect drug residues in imported products. As a result, appropriate medication and improved breeding environments are an essential part for the quality of aquaculture products.

Idea Generation As an inspiration to design, the albatross represents a symbol of cleanliness and zero-emissions energy. Albatrosses fly in the sky for long times without flapping their wings and glide over the sea through effective use of aerodynamic principles. The great albatross has the longest wingspan of any bird—up to 3.4 meters and a single flight distance of 10,000 miles can be achieved. In addition, the lifespan of some albatross species exceeds 50 years.

Model Making Individual work

When building a physical model, there are a number of factors one has to consider to ensure development of a quality sample. Some of these challenges can be exacerbated when timing is short. Factors such as rain or typhoons can negatively aect paint-drying processes, and in some cases prevent local contributing businesses from opening - further adding to delays. Ultimately, designers must learn to overcome these circumstances for timely, quality development.

Owl Clock

The central Confucian ideology of "benevolence" is conveyed through the clock, which portrays the legend of Confucius’ impact upon owls. To achieve Confucius’ aim of education, four things had been taught by the master: letters, ethics, devotion of soul, and truth. The clock reminds people to enhance personal cultivation and to seize the time.

Confucius (551–479 BC) was a famous Chinese teacher, politician, and philosopher of Chinese history. "Benevolence" is the core of Confucianism doctrine. The historical importance of education in Chinese culture is derived from the teachings of Confucius and philosophers of the Chou era.

Living by the River The whole metropolitan region Frankfurt Rhine Main in the recent years faces continuous population growth, as well as demographic, cultural and economic changes. For these reasons, the provision of both aordable and socially acceptable housing becomes an important issue. The increase in the number of households implies additional housing needs in the region, which are often met by adaptation and upgrading of the existing urban areas.

New District in Frankfurt-Gutleutviertel

The planning area is located in a former working-class neighborhood in the west of Frankfurt, the Gutleutviertel. The planning area of approximately 16 ha, situated western from the high-end area of the West Harbor and southern from the railway tracks leading to and from the main train station, is a potentially development area for new residential space. The area is divided on its northern and southern part by the centrally located GutleutstraĂ&#x;e Street. Eastern from the area is the Summerho Park, with a number of old trees.

Urbanity Design for Society

Healthy & Sustainable Community Human beings are social creatures. When we are connected, we are healthier and live longer and prosper. Based on some design research and analysis, we decided to build a healthy and sustainable community for people to have active living. According to the factors which influence people’s health, we thought about how can we promote physical activity for people who live there. Therefore, there are some design guidelines involved in our project.

Fine tea journey

好, 茶行 Fine tea shop

Designed by Shen-Kuei Huang/ Kuo-Chen Li/ Sharon Peng/ Daisy KPhuong/ Victor Ho/ Antonio Maude

In the modern society, how to keep and promote the value of traditional culture generally becomes more and more important. As the oldest city in Taiwan, Tainan is full of many old shops and right now numerous people are talking about them. Through this course, we hope to discover their value by service design and even develop a unique service for their customers. In our project, we choose Wen Feng Tea Shop as our case and plan to inject new life into the old tea shop.

Fine Tea Journey / 2013

Background Wen Feng Tea Shop is one of the historical old tea shops in Tainan which is located on Mincyuan road, nearby some attractions such as Wu Garden Art Center, BB Art Gallery, so the location is quite good for Wen Feng to raise awareness. It was established in 1869 in Qing Dynasty. therefore, in the store, you can see plenty of antiques which are moslty over 100 years old. And Wen Feng actually can be regarded as one of the leading tea shops in Tainan because it is one of the founder of Tainan Tea Guild.

Customer Expectations Tea is not only a beverage, it can also be a life style. Because tea drinking began during the Shang Dynasty, it has become a part of life. For the service design, we think we can not only promote the products in Weng Feng Tea Shop, but also tell our customers the stories behind the tea. Therefore, we will use some elements like tea god Lu Yu and 24 solar terms in the service design.

Tea God In the service design, we want to make the buying process be like a journey, so we will set the tea god, Lu Yu, as the guide on the journey. When customers get into the shop, Lu Yu will tell them the story of Fairy Black Tea. Because Fairy Black Tea is the specialty of Wen Feng, telling customers the story can be a good beginnig of the journey. In addition, according to the story, customers can know that “flavor” is a key element of tea drinking. We hope we can use the character, Lu Yu, to appeal to more customers and make them want to know more about tea. Because Lu Yu is the tea expert, this setting can help Wen Feng to arouse customers’ interest.

Design for Process

Twenty Four Solar Terms We can know that tea is really good for our body. However, it doesn’t mean that we can drink tea as long as we want anytime due to the different traits of tea. We want to take good use of 24 solar terms and teach our customers how to drink tea in different terms, even in different time in a day. According to some tea factory owners and books, we come up with the following figures. We want our customers to drink healthy and feel that tea drinking is a life style. Because each tea has its own story, we can tell them what is the story behind and why we drink it in this term instead of providing the information of tea benefits only. Dragon ball

Physical Model Inside the shop, we will classify our products into four seasons and put them into four dierent cabinets respectively. Thus, customers can get the tea he/she wants immediately. Also, we will put a smelling cup in front of each product and the guide in the shop, Lu Yu, will introduce them the dierent types of tea. This makes the buying process more fun because you can know what you buy is not only a beverage, but also a story, even a style.

PENGHU BAY`S BREEZE Promotion strategy of Penghu and perfume

Design by Shen-Kuei Huang, Wei-Luen Lin, Lilian Lee The main concept of our project is to build a deep tour to impress tourists on the beauty of Penghu. The project will involve local resources, including people, places, and culture. To create the unique impression of Penghu for tourists, the BREEZE perfume transforms the characteristics in Penghu to the package design and the attractive fragrance. BREEZE lead tourists to have an unforgettable journey in Penghu while the fragrance evokes tourists’ memory after they leave Penghu.

The design of Breeze perfume bottle combines cultural elements extracted from natural sceneries, cultural heritage and so on. The shape of the perfume bottle displays a single columnar jointing of basalt which is well-known scenery in Penghu. The gradient colors of the perfume represent the beautiful scenery of sunset in Penghu.

As one of the three treasures of Penghu, the fragrance of Gaillardia plays the most important role in the top notes of Breeze to demonstrate the feature in Penghu. In addition, Oriental Lily which is famous in Penghu expresses the Penghu ambience and represents the elegance of women. Breeze perfume makes women more attractive.

Minerva’s owl

The owl of Minerva spreads its wings only with the falling of the dusk. — G.W.F. Hegel Minerva is the Roman goddess of wisdom identified with Athena in Greek mythology. According to the legend, the goddess of wisdom is always accompanied by an owl appears. When people saw the owl hovering in the air, they knew Minerva had visited. The concept of the necklace combines the imagery of the owl, which shows the inner beauty and wisdom of the wearer.
