After a Night of Milestones, Winslow and Burkett Hope Lightning Strikes Twice By Chuck Corder What constitutes an unforgettable day? Usually something memorable happened. A couple’s wedding anniversary. An adolescent’s graduation. The day you’re born. Bubba Winslow had a night he’ll never forget on May 11. It was in fact his 28th birthday, and the Faith Chapel Outlaw Stocks driver knew just how to celebrate.

less stressful. It’s some of the most fun we’ve had in 10 years of racing.”Still, as Winslow said, “Once you get content and complacent, you start to slow down and guys start to catch you.“There’s definitely always room for improvement, no matter what.” Caleb Burkett has quickly learned the lesson to not rest on his accomplishments. That same May 11 night was a milestone evening for the 17-year-old junior at West Florida High School Advancement of Technology. After a bunch of near-misses this season, Burkett got his first career Lloyd’s Glass Pure Stocks victory and collected a $200 bounty for ending the four-race winning streak Robert Balkum enjoyed to start the year. “There’s not much I can say about it,” Burkett said. “It was a dream come true is the best way I can describe it. I was in the right spot at the right time. But it’s one of those things where I’m trying to not let it get into my head and I can stay calm about it. I’m ready to move forward and not let the win be a distraction and hurt us.” Wise beyond his years, Burkett knows spending most of his childhood around racetracks has taught him the value of humility. “I’ve seen folks walk around like they were the head honcho, and in the end, it beats them up,” (Continued on our web site.)
