he checkered flag ot only will the “Coors THome on the 2012 Buddy’s NLight 100” furnish Furnishing’s “Bliz- plenty of FIREWORKS, zard Series” is almost in sight. The series consist of five 100 lap races and tonight our fans will be treated to lots of close racing and hopefully some smart racing as points will be on their minds. They are all chasing points leader Bubba Pollard. After the final Blizzard race on September 21st, the top ten in points can pretty much breathe a sigh of relief come December. A top ten series finish could very well land a starting spot in the 45th Annual Snowball Derby. (See story inside). Normally 55-65 cars attempt to qualify for but only 38 will start the race.

eneral Manager Tim ake sure you keep G Bryant decided a few years back to show his Mup with all our up-coming events by appreciation to these drivers for their yearlong dedication and secure them a second chance to make the starting lineup for the most prestigious race in the nation.

D.J. VanderLey, suspended for the regular season after an altercation with another driver on April 27th, has had his eligibility to compete reinstated. VanderLey missed 2 Blizzard races, and 2 events at Mobile, resulting in a 4 race suspension in the Sunoco Championship Series. “Officials from both tracks re-opened discussions last week on the length of the suspension”, stated 5 Flags GM Tim Bryant. “ Everyone agreed the severity of the infraction called for just punishment, and we feel like it was levied. We wanted to issue a statement to all drivers about controlling their emotions , and we hope we have done that. We have elected to let D.J. return to racing, under probation. We are confident he has learned from this series of events and fully expect him to exemplify the professionalism of which he is capable”.

Beat Goodwin, Earn A Bomber Bounty Bonus Ok, he wins a lot. Four times in a row in the exciting Bombers. That puts a target on his back, and $200 bonus if you can beat Gary Goodwin in car 23 to the checkers. Gary is a captain of a charter fishing boat, and you can bet he won’t be just out trolling tonight.

Every race matters. There’s a reason that’s an old cliché. A driver gets off the throttle for one second in one race and it can cost him an entire season. But with only two Buddy’s Blizzard races left, that adage rings ever truer. While all the drivers have their eyes on a victory, a handful will be simply hoping for solid top10 finishes to improve their winter fates for the Snowball, and a possible provisional spot.

A logjam currently exists for spots inside that treasured window. Snowball veteran David Rogers (Orlando, Fla.) sits eighth. Two points behind him in ninth is SLM rookie Clay Alexander (Franklin, Tenn.). Donnie Wilson (Oklahoma City, Okla.), who finished second to Pensacola “she-ro” Johanna Long in the 2010 Snowball, sits 10th. And just outside the top 10 are Pensacola’s Logan Boyett, Casey Smith (Austin, Texas) and Jeremy Pate, another local driver. Boyett trails Wilson by two points for that coveted spot, Smith is just four back and Pate just five. All are fully aware of what’s on the line. (Read full story on our web site)
