Wings, Mods, Sportsmen, Bombers Tonite, an awsome show of power and speed with the winged sprints from Tampa venturing to the Gulf Coast for a pair of events. Tonight Pensacola, tomorrow Mobile International Speedway. We welcome the drivers, and familes to Steve Stokes enjoy the hospitality of Pensacola. The Late Models have the BLAB-TV Host week off. We look forward to the annual Celebrity and Media race. We are hoping to have a field of six, limited by the cars Bomber drivers are able to loan us. We anticipate a couple of radio personalities, a FHP trooper, the mayor, a sheriff, and a county commissioner. That’s in 2 weeks. Looking ahead to September we are formulating plans for a salute to the “First Responders” in our area, firefighters, EMT’s and law enforcement personnel. Circle September 11th on your calendar. It’s great when local drivers venture to test their skills at other tracks. Hal Martin, a senior at the University of New Orleans ran in the NASCAR Truck Series in Memphis 2 weeks ago. He finished 26th, after the truck experienced overheating. Johanna Long this weekend is running the ARCA race at Iowa Speedway, she tested well last week. Last weekend she drove in the PASS Series at Greenville SC, and at Hickory NC. Finally did you see where two alumni of 5 Flags are being considered for the NASCAR Hall of Fame in Charlotte? Bobby Allison and Darrell Waltrip top the list of nominees. Bobby ran in 17 Snowballs and never won, Darrell ran 6 times won in1976.
