e welcome the 6 celebrity drivers in the annual UCP race tonight. It is fun, and a fund raiser, and we are delighted to host the event again. More inside.
The open wheel Modifieds are back in action and should be a treat for the fans. Ryan Redmon is holding on to a slim 26 point advantage over the always exciting Chris Cotto. Cotto plans to showcase a brand new modified and should be a threat to close the gap for the points chase, which will be decided on Oct. 8th at the “Night of Champions”. Neither can afford any mistakes because Nathan “THE SNAKE” Ingersoll is ready to strike as he is only 3 points shy of Cotto. Also tonight the Pro Late Models, Sportsman, and Bombers. Ronnie Smith (Pro Late Model), Bubba Winslow (Sportsmen), and Tony Boyd (Bombers) will be out to attempt to close the gap on the points leaders in their respective divisions. Editor’s Note: Steve is pictured below when he drove James Walker’s # 91 Street Stocker in 1981.
Our congrats go to JJ Day, who set a new Bomber track record 2 weeks ago. Unfortunately he was involved in a crash that ended his hopes for the checkers. There is still time for some major shake ups in all divisions, but it needs to happen soon because time is running out for 2010.

Jo Makes 1st NASCAR Race, Finishes 17th in Field of 36
Johanna Long’s debut in NASCAR’s Camping World Truck Series was “impressive”. That’s what SPEED TV said after Jo held her line and finished 17th in a field of 36 last weekend at ORP in Indianapolis. Jo drove the #15 Toyota of Billy Ballew in the 200 lap televised event. Look for more of Johanna at other NASCAR truck events this year.

Every summer, we partner with UCP to raise awareness and funds for this very deserving effort. UCP serves clients from this area who struggle daily with Cerebral Palsy. Part of your ticket price goes directly to UCP...and they will receive a check from our fans tonite after the 6 lap race. We have one veteran, Santa Rosa Sheriff Wendell Hall, and 5 rookies. One of the rookies did race here years ago, Escambia Commissioner Kevin White. Judge Pat Kinsey has been in the pits supporting Bomber driver Courtney Rodriguez this season. Cat Country’s Dana Cervantes has been a long time fan. Two first timers are commercial Realtor Randy Bricker, and Wells Fargo financial advisor Pat Windham, both UCP board members. Does anyone feel comfortable passing a sheriff’s car? Thanks to the 6 Bomber Class drivers for donating their cars for tonight’s race.
