For example, let’s talk about the Sportsman for a moment. t our last Blizzard A race I had one of the Super Late Model driver’s standing with me as we watched the Beef O’Brady’s Sportsman feature. He made the remark “Man, these guys really get up on the wheel and race their butts off every lap”. This is some the best local racing you’ll see anywhere.

ow that’s all said, I N must mention the most popular race for

the night, if not the entire year. I’m speaking of the Kid’s Bicycle Races. This is always a big deal because the entire family can get involved. They will all race for the “BIG PRIZE” of the night – Trophies and Ice Cream. e thank the Long W family for the trophies from Panhan-

dle Grading and Paving Wow!! Makes you want to be a kid again, doesn’t it? Oh well, guess I’ll just sit back and enjoy. Maybe they will feel sorry for me and give me some ice cream too. Thanks to Tracy Goodson of the 2 Beef O’Brady’s restaurants here in Pensacola. They are open late tonite for race fans to have a bite on the way home. next time, be Until safe!

Racing Modifieds is a family affair for Brandon Howell. The Lucedale, Miss., resident is enjoying a breakout year in his fifth season here. He compiled three wins in four features in 2013 and looks to pad his 19-point lead over defending track champion Donnie Hamrac.Reflecting on his recent accomplishments, the 26-year-old pipe builder is quick to defer to the helping hand of Charlie McAdams, the owner of Howell’s No. 99. McAdams just so happens to be the father of Tesa Howell, Brandon’s wife. “If it wasn’t for (McAdams), I wouldn’t be where I am today,” Brandon Howell said. “For as much money and time as he has sunk into it, he has been ecstatic about the results this year.” See our web site:www.

Ryan Worsham must love falling asleep each night. His dreams seem to keep coming true every day. It’d be incorrect to call them childhood dreams because at just 13, Worsham is still a kid.

“He talked to me about what it takes to be successful,” he beamed. “It was a great experience. I never thought I’d get that chance. His hauler was pretty nice.”

But after many children and teenagers Worsham’s age line up Friday at Five Flags Speedway for the annual bicycle races, Worsham will be lining up his No. 7 Bomber for a ninth feature in this his rookie season. In eight races, the Niceville native has posted four podium finishes — a pair of runner-ups and a pair of thirds — and finished outside of the top-10 just once.

Worsham’s results have been pretty nice this season. After coming home in a respectable eighth in his Five Flags debut in March, Worsham reeled off five consecutive top-fives. It hasn’t been clear sailing completely for the young man, though. In one of his first races, he got turned into the wall. “I tore it up real good,” Worsham said. “It wasn’t as bad as I thought it’d be, but it scared the crap outta me.”See our web site:www.snowballderby.com for the rest of Chuck Corder’s story.

“I didn’t think (success) would come this fast,” admitted Worsham, who raced motorcycles from ages 6 to 8 and then go-karts from 8 to 12. “At first, I was a little nervous running a big car. But I got over it after the first race. It’s a lot easier than I thought it would be.” A year ago, the Rocky Bayou seventh-grader was one of those young fans in the stands watching the Friday night warriors swap paint. He even got a chance to rub shoulders with one of his idols at the Snowball Derby. Worsham walked into Kyle Busch’s trailer and picked the Sprint Cup star’s brain for a few minutes.
