IRONWOOD -- What can be more U.P. than people standing out on a street sidewalk all bundled up against a blowing wind in the dark? Not much -- you betcha, eh? Come to Historic Downtown Ironwood on Saturday, Dec. 4 and discover a family tradition that encompasses those elements.

For 27 years downtown Ironwood has hosted the Jack Frost Festival of Lights Parade, where units of all sizes, shapes, and types (dogs included!) adorn themselves with lights and march down

Aurora Street past the brilliantly lit marquee of the Historic Ironwood Theatre. The parade units include giant snowmobile trail groomers from the Gogebic Range Trail Authority; hand-crafted floats from the Cub Scouts, Boy Scouts, Coleman Engineering, and Cold Iron Brewing Co.; the famous Precision Snow Shovel Brigade Drill Team and special appearances by Mr. Jack Frost himself, along with Santa and Mrs. Claus riding in a horse-drawn wagon. All this is sure to warm the hearts (if not the fingers and toes) of the hundreds of locals and visitors who gather to celebrate Christmas and Jack Frost wintertime in the U.P.
