Like a Local

Wisconsin has four distinct seasons, and each season brings its own variety of experiences. Summer highs average right around 76o. In the last three years, we have averaged around 100 inches of snow. Certain times of the year draw different amounts of people. Here are some tips and tools to help you make the most of your trip.

Spring – Apr-Jun

Snow is melting and warmer weather is coming. Now is a great time for early season outdoor recreational activities. With over 1,100 area lakes nearby, Rhinelander is the perfect spot for fishing opener. The crowds haven’t arrived just yet, so you are free to enjoy a peaceful bike ride through our quiet forests or immerse yourself in nature while hiking and birdwatching. Summer – June-Mid-Sept

Summertime in the Northwoods means time on the water. That means boating, fishing, and paddling in the sunshine. Soak up the sun, explore our area parks and museums, hit the trails, and experience our very walkable downtown for shopping and dining. Our summers bring a variety of festivals and events with plenty of opportunities for outdoor music. Perks – Festivals and Events, Warm Weather, Outdoor Dining and Picnicking

Fall – Mid Sept-Nov

Visitors to the Rhinelander Area will find an assortment of ways to view the Northwoods’ spectacular fall foliage. Winter – Dec-Mar

Winter is no time to hibernate – get out to enjoy the beauty of a snow-covered Northwoods. Our cold-weather activities will keep you moving all winter long – snowshoeing, skiing, ice fishing.
