Area Fishing & Lakes
Presque Isle offers a perfect blend of fishing opportunities and warm hospitality for anglers looking to wet a line in a pristine wilderness lake or a pebble-filled stream.
Presque Isle is surrounded by more than 1,000 lakes – many truly undeveloped -- harboring good numbers of walleye, musky, smallmouth and largemouth bass, northern pike, crappie and other panfish. Add to that are more than 70 rivers and streams – many classified as prime trout habitat! -- that flow through Vilas County.
Next door to us is Michigan, offering even more lakes and flowing water to explore. With an amazing diversity of waters, you are assured to find a destination to match your interest and skill level.
If you have little ones, take them to Sensenbrenner Park in downtown Presque Isle to fish from the shore of Little Horsehead Lake. Another shoreline gem is an unnamed lake, with parking and a pier, located off Hwy. B towards Boulder Junction. Call the chamber office for details on how to hit this sweet little hotspot!
Come hard water, discover why many anglers have a love for ice fishing! Nothing will get the adrenaline surging as much as when someone yells “Flag!”
