AREA PARKS
Rhinelander offers a number of parks and other recreational facilities. Aside from Hodag Park and Pioneer Park, Rhinelander is also home to Sarocka Field, a small neighborhood park with a large grassy area, a playground for kids and a large sledding hill in winter. For your furry friends - the dog park is located at Shepard Park on Boyce Drive. The city is also home to a BMX Bike track at the West Side Park.
ATHLETICS
Does your team travel for sporting events? Rhinelander has outstanding athletic facilities including the Hodag Dome and the Rhinelander Ice Arena. The Hodag Dome is the largest air-supported high school dome in the nation and offers 128,000+ square feet for a variety of athletic and community activities. The Rhinelander Ice Arena offers a full-size NHL 85x200 foot hockey rink and is home to numerous tournaments throughout the winter season, as well as additional ice related functions.
ATVING
City road routes are open and can get you to trail systems like the Enterprise Trail System, located south of Rhinelander. The Enterprise trails run for 10 miles and links to Langlade and Lincoln County trails.
FISHING
Whether you are hoping to catch bluegill, perch, crappie, small or large mouth bass, walleye, northern pike or musky our lakes and rivers have it all! Rhinelander is also the “Ice Fishing Capital of the World”, so grab those tip-ups and hit our lakes year round. GOLFING
The Rhinelander Area is one of the most scenic spots in the state for your next round of golf. Here you’ll find highly-rated courses tucked among towering maples, pines and oaks. With several area golf courses, each course will offer you and your group a unique golfing experience.
HUNTING
The Rhinelander Area is a fantastic hunting destination. Ruffed grouse hunting in Hodag Country is second to none. White tailed deer hunting is excellent as well, with a good number of bucks taken in both the bow and gun seasons.
SILENT SPORTS TRAILS
Our silent sports trails are always expanding. There are more than a dozen trails within 15 minutes of Rhinelander offering a trail for every skill level. You’ll find a number of biking opportunities in Hodag Country. Mountain bikers and road cyclists alike will enjoy bicycling in and around the Rhinelander Area. Cross country ski or snowshoe miles of well-groomed trails running through the beautiful forests. Trek through the snow-covered pines or glide along tamarack bogs and groves of hemlocks.
SNOWMOBILING
The Rhinelander area is the perfect hub for exploring snowmobile trails across the northwoods. More than 1,000 miles of snowmobile trails run throughout the Rhinelander area. These snowmobile trails link to thousands more miles of trails running throughout Northern Wisconsin and into Michigan’s Upper Peninsula.
WATER FUN
With more than 1,100 lakes in the county, the words water and Rhinelander go hand in hand. If you are looking for a scenic paddle down the river, the Wisconsin or Pelican rivers will have a route for you. If you want to spend a day on the water boating, jet skiing or water skiing, there is surely a lake for you.
