Dear All, Thank you for coming to witness our marriage, we are so blessed to have you here today. We are grateful to our minister, Leesa, for permitting photographs to be taken at any time throughout the service - but please do remain seated, and turn your flash off. For legal purposes, photographs are not allowed to be taken during the signing of the register, but there will be an opportunity after this to recommence your flashing! Leesa will advise when this will be. Please note that confetti cannot be used inside OR outside the church, so please save your petals for later. Finally, if you have any small people with you and they cry, then they cry! Please feel free to wander about with them, and please don’t feel obligated to leave until they settle (unless you want to!) Thanks again for coming to share our special day. Please enjoy it as much as we will. Love, Maxine & Jonathan
The Entrance of the Bride - “A Thousand Years” Instrumental
by C. Perri
The Welcome Hymn - ‘Be Thou My Vision’ Be Thou my Vision, O Lord of my heart; Naught be all else to me, save that Thou art Thou my best thought, by day or by night, Waking or sleeping, Thy presence my light. Be Thou my wisdom, and Thou my true word; I ever with Thee and Thou with me, Lord; Thou my great Father, I Thy true son; Thou in me dwelling, and I with Thee one. Be Thou my battle shield, sword for the fight; Be Thou my dignity, Thou my Delight; Thou my soul’s Shelter, Thou my high Tower: Raise Thou me heavenward, O Power of my power. Riches I heed not, nor man’s empty praise, Thou mine Inheritance, now and always: Thou and Thou only, first in my heart, High King of Heaven, my Treasure Thou art. High King of Heaven, my victory won, May I reach Heaven’s joys, O bright Heaven’s Sun! Heart of my own heart, whatever befall, Still be my Vision, O Ruler of all.
Prayer of praise
Reading - Song of Songs 8:6-8 (The Message) read by Mel Wood “Hang my locket around your neck, wear my ring on your finger. Love is invincible facing danger and death. Passion laughs at the terrors of hell. The fire of love stops at nothing - it sweeps everything before it. Flood waters can’t drown love, torrents of rain can’t put it out. Love can’t be bought, love can’t be sold - it’s not to be found in the marketplace.”
Reading - Ephesians 5:21-33 (The Message) read by Laura Waldock “Out of respect for Christ, be courteously reverent to one another. Wives, understand and support your husbands in ways that show your support for Christ. The husband provides leadership to his wife the way Christ does to his church, not by domineering but by cherishing. So just as the church submits to Christ as he exercises such leadership, wives should likewise submit to their husbands. Husbands, go all out in your love for your wives, exactly as Christ did for the church - a love marked by giving, not getting. Christ’s love makes the church whole. His words evoke her beauty. Everything he does and says is designed to bring the best out of her, dressing her in dazzling white silk, radiant with holiness. And that is how husbands ought to love their wives. They’re really doing themselves a favoursince they’re already “one” in marriage. No one abuses his own body, does he? No, he feeds and pampers it. That’s how Christ treats us, the church, since we are part of his body. And this is why a man leaves father and mother and cherishes his wife. No longer two, they become “one flesh”. This is a huge mystery, and I don’t pretend to understand it all. What is clearest to me is the way Christ treats the church. And this provides a good picture of how each husband is to treat his wife, loving himself in loving her, and how each wife is to honour her husband.”
The Address Prayer of response Hymn - ‘Amazing Grace (My Chains are Gone)’ Amazing grace, how sweet the sound, That saved a wretch like me. I once was lost, but now I’m found, Was blind but now I see. T’was grace that taught my heart to fear, And grace my fears relieved. How precious did that grace appear? The hour I first believed. (CHORUS) My chains are gone - I’ve been set free, My God, my Saviour, has ransomed me. And like a flood, His mercy reigns, Unending love, amazing grace. The Lord has promised good to me, His word my hope secures. He will my shield and portion be, As long as life endures. CHORUS x 2 The earth shall soon dissolve like snow, The sun forbear to shine. But God, who called me here below, Will be forever mine. You are forever mine.
The Marriage Prayer for Jonathan and Maxine Hymn - ‘Ten Thousand Reasons (Bless the Lord)’ (CHORUS) Bless the Lord, O my soul, O my soul, Worship His holy name. Sing like never before, O my soul. I’ll worship Your holy name. The sun comes up, it’s a new day dawning, It’s time to sing Your song again. Whatever may pass and whatever lies before me, Let me be singing when the evening comes. CHORUS You’re rich in love and You’re slow to anger, Your name is great and Your heart is kind. For all Your goodness I will keep on singing; Ten thousand reasons for my heart to find. CHORUS And on that day when my strength is failing, The end draws near and my time has come, Still my soul will sing your praise unending; Ten thousand years and then forever more! Bless the Lord, O my soul, O-h my soul, Worship His holy name. Sing like never before, O my soul. I’ll worship Your holy name.
