‘‘Adaptive Reuse LTCP’’ Project Type Year Location Area
Exhibition Center, Technological & Cultural Park 2018 Lavrion Avenue, Athens 4.245 sqm
The Lavrion Technological Cultural Park is located in the city of Lavrion, southeast of Attica, and is the only monument with industrial archeological and architectural significance. The aim of this paper is the evaluation of the possibility of re-using the floating area and the power station, which are two of the park’s buildings, with interventions in the interior, the facades of the buildings and the surrounding area by proposing new functions and constructions. The resulting proposal is the creation of a multi-center (exhibition center) that will be part of the development goals of the T.P.P.L. as formulated by its administration. The venues will include hostels, meeting rooms, and exhibition center as well as entertainment, culture and interaction facilities. Moreover, the surrounding space is re-developed by the creation of an external amphitheater design based on the morphological scale of the soil.

Thoriko Sounion National Park The Skala of the French Company Poseidon Temple at Sounion
Landmarks Lavrion is located at the southeast end of Attica and is about 45km from Athens. Most of it belongs to the Sounion National Park and the area is characterized by the existence of many hills. The city of Lavrion is a city with a rich history and an industrial identity and innovation culture. Lavrion also includes the settlements of Thorikos, Kato Sounion, Kato Posidonia and Legraena. The great length of the coastline and the natural forest of Sounion constitute an important natural resource, which, combined with the important archaeological monuments scattered in the area, offers many opportunities for cultural tourism and recreation. At the same time, the upgrading of the port of Lavrion, the operation of the marina – the largest marina for mooring and supporting boats in Greece – and the future expansion of the Suburban railway give a dynamic to the wider region.

Reasons for Re-use This is one of the few integrated examples of the early industrial period in Greece. The composition of the buildings was organized according to the highest standards of prevailing in the countries of central and northern Europe. Except the production and processing plants, this integrated city had also technical support structures, as well as clinics, pharmacies and residences. The combination of this complex of buildings with the works of great engineers of that time made it an attractive field or reuse. The National Technical University of Athens (NTUA) gradually recovered this architectural richness and made interventions, but the size is so big that there are also buildings without any intervention yet. The re-use proposal concerns two such buildings that are integrated and complementary to the existing structures, but also integrate the surrounding area space with the supporting functions. Both the architectural elements of the buildings and the dynamics of the area du to their location contributed to the re-use option. Exterior | Dorms

Concept The reasons for re-use interfere with some elements that function catalytically in the new study. The historical time with the glorious past, the abandonment and ultimately the revival with the creation of the industrial park, are examples that go hand in hand with the extremely interesting architectural examples of the shells. The emotional load that brings the building to man is another key element that prescribes the “regeneration� of the park, giving the corresponding economic interest that makes the investment sustainable

Architectural manipulations are the ones that speculate the study on the large-scale spectrum. The remove of the items without interest, the rebuild –highlight existing ones (cranes etc.) – and the addition of the new lightweight structures make up a modern space that balances between the past and the present. It organizes a building program capable of responding to new demand, created a dynamic space with actions that invite the world, educate young people and evolve culture.

‘‘Gazi Food Market’’ Project Type Year Location Area
Food Market - Office Loft - ApartmentRestaurant - Cinema 2016 Pireos & Andronikou, Athens 10.302 sqm
The target of this project is to study a certain area by taking into consideration its’ urban planning. In this occasion the area of Gazi is the one being studied, and how the entire capital’s planning, affected the urban planning of the specific area, but also how the area’s planning, played a significant role in the urban development of Athens. This is the strategy that was followed : Study of historical data, exploration of Gazi in order to “read” the area for the first time, extended documentation of the data that were collected, mapping of the area, focus on certain buildings in the area. Afterwards, the research was more concentrated on two blocks located on Pireos and Petrou Ralli street, where the project will take place. The goal of this project was to unify the two blocks with either a food or a flower market.

The first proposal was to connect the two main building complexes with a bridge. But this solution was not helpful for the use of the market, and it did not fit, as a construction, to the character of the Gazi area. The final proposal, on which the whole project was finally based, came straight from the logo. By deconstructing the logo, a source of light was added on the sidewalks, that during the night, it would create a very elegant connection between the two blocks. Moreover, the deconstructed logo, also was the inspiration in order to create benches and the general design of a park. Another element that assisted the unification, was the construction of a roof, with simple design, that would connect the whole complex.

‘‘Medi Collagen’’ Project Type Year Location Area

This project concerns the re-use of a floor in the heart of Athens, where an insurance company hosted, and in which now there will be a new aesthetics center. The client asked for a design proposal that would attract the visitor’s eye and make him fell intimate. The personal design proposal aims to create a series of restful spaces throughout, using a sophisticated palette of natural material and earthy colors. The re-design of the central entrance with wood and white marble will create a sense of luxury that makes the client feel unique and comfortable. The architecture of the clinic aims to take the visitor from the busy road to a quiet, well-built inner oasis that invites the feeling of thought and relaxation. Inside, the texture of the stone-tiled floor and the white walls that “float” due to a light effect in a concrete space in the floor will create a cleaning space and place of experience for every customer.

‘‘Ignabod’’ Project Type Year Location Area
Exhibition Stand 2018 Fiera Milano, Italy 32 sqm
This work was presented at the Lineapelle exhibition in Rho Fierre, Milan (International exhibition of leather, accessories, components, fabrics, synthetics, and models) on behalf of a Greek industrial company. The owners have asked for a relatively low-cost kiosk that would attract the visitors and would have a maximum functionality of this 32sqm space. The stand was designed and constructed with the main objective the functionality and the highlight of the products. During the process, we faced the challenge not only to attract the customers with our products but also the exhibition stand itself to be a reason to visit the kiosk. The façade was covered with white matt wood and the logo of the firm was placed with chrome black and translucent plexiglass to illuminate the led. Furthermore, 42 meters of shelves were placed inside, where hidden lighting was put to give further emphasis on the merchandise. Finally, the benches came in such a way so the visitors to walk and see across the stand without physical and disrupting borders.

‘‘Kolokotroni 16’’ Project Type Year Location Area
Apartment 2018 Kolokotroni 16 Piraeus 165 sqm
This project concerns the remodeling of the internal spaces of an existing pallet-built residence in Keratsini, to serve the needs and the wishes of the owner. The architectural manipulations aim to demolish the internal walls to complete the renovation of the apartment and to create a single living and kitchen space. The pure forms, the highly acclaimed lighting and the harmonious composition of colors and materials, make up a place with special character and a special atmosphere. In the master bedroom and in the children’s rooms, all the furniture have been designed to achieve a single harmonious result. Moreover, there is not only an extensive use of wood, but also an investment in furniture, to give the space the warmth that these private spaces need.
