Your guide to breakfast, lunch and dinner outside in Westerville

Now that warmer weather has arrived, you can have the pleasure of diving into exciting new restaurants, all while taking in some sunshine and fresh air. The city of Westerville has no shortage of outdoor dining options, and we’ve put together some of our top picks.

Java Central Cafe & Roaster

If you’re starting your day with coffee and a light breakfast, Java Central Cafe & Roaster (20 S. State St.) is hard to beat. Just about any coffee-based drink you can imagine, smoothies, baked goods and even egg dishes and bagel sandwiches are offered. The outdoor seating is limited, but it makes up for lack of size with plenty of charm situated on an all-brick walkway within the beating heart of Uptown.

Sunny Street Cafe

Looking for a breakfast that’s on the heartier side? Sunny Street Cafe (644 N. State St.) is a central Ohio chain that’s expanded to multiple other states in the eastern U.S., and for good reason. This from-scratch kitchen serves up everything from breakfast quesadillas to chicken and waffles, and its outdoor patio–complete with tasteful planters and bright-yellow umbrellas–is easy on the eyes as well.

Uptown Deli & Brew

A sizable patio and secluded biergarten with plenty of umbrellas when the summer sun is too much: That’s what you’ll find at Uptown Deli & Brew (41 N. State St.), which also happens to be the site of Westerville’s first brewery, Temperance Row Brewing Company. This Westerville restaurant and brewery is also a part of the Columbus Ale Trail, which you can learn more about here.

Jimmy V’s Grill & Pub

Another casual spot perfect for Lunch in Uptown Westerville, Jimmy V’s Grill & Pub (1 S. State St.) offers not only an expansive stone patio with abundant flowers and potted plants, the eatery’s outdoor space also abuts South State Street in the center of Uptown, so you can have a first-hand view for the lively hustle and bustle, and even take advantage of Westerville’s Uptown DORA.

For a truly delicious, and truly entertaining, outdoor dinner, Giammarco’s Italian Restaurant (6030 Chandler Ct) is hard to beat. You can grab a variety of traditional Sicilian dishes, pasta, and hearty pizzas, all on one of the liveliest p atios in the Columbus area. Regulation bocce ball courts, plenty of live music, and even full-roof rain coverage await.

This lake-house themed hotel (409 Altair Pkwy.), offers guests a little piece of lakefront cabin life in the city. The hotel boasts a sizable outdoor space for diners featuring a medley of lawn games, seating and fire pits. It’s even situated on a small body of water itself.

Giammarco’s Italian Restaurant The Two-One Barrel & Boar

With warmer weather here, Barrel & Boar (8 N State St) offers lunch and dinner service outdoors under chic string-bulb lighting. Found out back of the restaurant, visitors will often enjoy live music on their vibrant patio. Enter through the main entrance on State Street or off of E. College Avenue.
