2014 - 2017

Master in Design for Interaction

Two and half years working experience as an Interaction Designer

This master program sharpens my design research skill and at the same time provides me with experience of working, coordinating and communicating in a multi-national team.

National Taiwan University | Taipei

I explore the entire process of innovative product design, from user/ market/ technology research to making it into reality. I work in diverse settings, such as designing interactive installations/products, IoT devices(wearable, camera, projector, etc.), and user interfaces.interfaces.

NEXCOM International Co. Ltd | Taipei

2008 - 2012

2012 - 2013

B.A., Science in Engineering majored in Applied Mechanics

Ten months working experience as a firmware engineer of car computers

I cultivated logical thinking and problem-solving strategies while learning the basic theories of science and engineering. All of these experiences make me more efficient when learning new skills.

I learned the structure of embedded systems and coding skills at NEXCOM, which became very useful in the future when designing IoT devices and prototyping.

Creativity & Entrepreneurship Program, NTU

ARTC | Zhang-Hua, Taiwan

Winner of the “Group Creative Competition Award

Two months internship at the Automotive Research and Testing Center

I learned how to build a business model and evaluate risks when starting a new business. I also met the coolest people here and learned a lot from their spirit!

I helped ARTC with checking computer vision correction rates and learned advanced vehicle technologies, such as automatic parking and automatic obstacle avoidance.

01 Balance Lamp

Have you ever wondered what’s the value of “light”? And how much would you willing to give to exchange the light and the music?

Scale Test

In order to get the right scale of the lamp, we asked people come with their belongings and interact freely with our lamp.

Mechanical Design

It’s hard to believe that my major subject “Applied Mechanics” and be used on this job!

01 Balance Lamp Mechanical Test & Fix

After calculation, we started a series of test with different objects, and tried to fix the error.

Electronic Design & Test

We paid much attention on the working fluency on both mechanical and electronic part in order to provide a pleasant experience.

01 Balance Lamp 2015 Salone del Mobile Milano

It’s an exciting experience to me. People were willing to exchange their belongings with Balance Lamp and were so curious about how it works!

02 Weekend Observation

The combination of table, chair and light is commonly seen in everybody’s house. We often read here, furthermore, for the modern lifestyle, we often phubbing here in the weekends.

interactive furniture

However, through the modern lifestyle I found that there are some redundant things happen here. there are too much......

Ideation

In order to remove the above redundancy in our life, and provide a comfortable reading or phubbing environment for modern people, we list the following elements on our chair.

1

1. comfortable first 2. a wireless charger in table 3&4. adjustable light by touch best suit for reading and phubbing separately.

02 Weekend Sketch & Real Size Mockup

With the above elements, We started to sketch our ideas and made real size mock up for the later test.

User Experiment

We were struggling on the balance of table and seat area meanwhile the most suitable light direction, so we made an experiment with real size.

How memories have shaped us as time goes by. *2014 EC Design School United Exhibition The whole processes through concept to product are by Chang Hao-Yung. glass welding craft adviser: Mr. Wong, Yi-Chun

08 Time & Light Concept

A pendant conveys the concept of how memories influence every body.

We were originally clear and pure when we wereborn.

Material Chosen

Untill one day, there’s a As time goes by, more and more memories shaped us memory changed us. into how we are today.

I chose traditional patterned glass which is commonly seen on the windows of Taiwanese old house as the material represents “memories”.

10 Taiwanese Nostalgic Windows| photo collection I started to collect patterns of Taiwanese nostalgic windows from 2015 in Taipei, Tainan and Hong-Kong. It’s a traditional craft becoming popular in the 1970s’ Taiwan because people began to place a higher value on aesthetics of living during the time of economic takeoff. However, this craft began to fall in 1990s due to difficulties of maintenance and the emergence of new building materials. These patterns really fascinates me, so I decided to collect them by photos before it disappeared.
