Registered Nurse, Injury Prevention Outreach and Safe Kids Alaska State Coalition Coordinator Providence Alaska Medical Center
Alaska has been Sara’s home since 1974, and all of her formal education, kindergarten through bachelor’s degree, was obtained in the Greatland. August 2023 will mark her 31st anniversary of employment as an RN at Providence Alaska Medical Center, and she is so grateful to be part of the remarkable team of caregivers that are her second family. Sara’s current role for the past 17 years includes outreach work in the community focused on keeping Alaskans injury free and reducing hospitalizations due to preventable trauma, in collaboration with numerous community partner agencies. She has the privilege of serving Providence Alaska Children’s Hospital as the special/adaptive needs transportation consultant. Sara is honored to carry out the mission of Safe Kids Alaska, “Preventing Childhood Injury in the Last Frontier.”

Susan Gorba
BSN, RN, SANE-A, SANE-P Norton Sound Health Corporation
Susan is the Manager of Forensic Nursing Services at Norton Sound Health Corporation in Nome. She is a certified Sexual Assault Nurse Examiner for adults, adolescents and pediatrics, and is the primary responder to victims of sexual assault, intimate partner violence, neglect, abuse and strangulation in the Bering Strait Region. Susan is passionate about using her forensic knowledge to collaborate with her multidisciplinary team in Nome. She graduated from the University of Great Falls Montana in 2019 with a bachelor’s degree in science of nursing. When not working, Susan enjoys walking her bulldog Bruno on the beach and creating all types of art and music.
Teresa Gray
RN, Executive Director for Mobile Medics International and PRN Ancora Home Health and Hospice
Teresa is a 30-year paramedic, RN working rural, metro, SWAT, helicopter, and fixed wing medicine. She owned Alaska’s only paramedic schools from 1999-2007. Today, Teresa is the founder and executive Director of Mobile Medics International, a nonprofit organization that takes volunteer medical teams to disaster areas, refugee crises and chronically medically underserved areas. To date, MMI has been to 22 countries on five continents, responding to every natural disaster and refugee crises in the last six years, most recently responding three times to the Ukrainian refugee crisis and to the Turkey earthquake disaster. In 2022, Teresa was honored on the floor of the United States Senate and was named a CNN top 10 Hero of the year.
