altMUD is offering a biocomposite and explores a material that is structurally strong, lightweight, thermally successful and waterproof. altMUd harnesses the comp prop Mud and fibrous, binding and light-weightedness of Mycelium to explore a new typology of building material.
Due to equipment and time constraints, we gave up adding Chitosan and achieving the final product by 3d printing...
Our group imagined the application of the biocomposite in many chaotic urban context, where mixed use typology with small scale industries existing within the community. Materials are upcycled, recycled, manufactured, distributed, and consumed by the Community.
With the broader aim to contribute to the building material culture, the product aspires to position itself at the more-economical side of the spectrum. This sustainable material creats more inhabitable environment.
