ECOLOGICAL RESTORATION AND DEVELOPMENT PLAN FOR PORT OF TIANJIN

Academic Work 154.6 Acres / 62.5 Hectares Jan, 2018 to May, 2018

Mission Statement: Turn a brown land to a public park to make citizens' lives better. Project Scope: The Port of Tianjin is on the coast of Tianjin Municipality, in the former county of Tanggu, on the coast between the estuaries of the Haihe to the south and the New Yongding River to the north. To the west, the port borders the city of Tanggu (now the Urban Core of the Binhai New Area) and the TEDA. To the east, the port opens up to the Bohai Bay. Tianjin Port is divided into nine port areas: the three core ("Tianjin Xingang") areas of Beijiang, Nanjiang, and Dongjiang around the Xingang fairway; the Haihe area along the river; the Beitang port area around the Beitangkou estuary; the Dagukou port area in the estuary of the Haihe River; and three areas under construction (Hanggu, Gaoshaling, Nangang). The site of exlposion is located in the midwest of Port of Tianjin. Totally 60 ha land was polluted and destroyed. The residential buildings in the south of the site were severely damaged. The highway bridge in the east can still be used with minor damage. Softwares: Adobe Photoshop, AutoCAD, SketchUp, Rhinoceros 3D, Lumion.

Timeline

WHAT HAPPENED? On 12 August 2015, a series of explosions killed 173 people and injured 798 people at a container storage station at the Port of Tianjin. The first two explosions occurred within 30 seconds of each other at the facility, which is located in the Binhai New Area of Tianjin, China. The second explosion was far larger and involved the detonation of about 800 tonnes of ammonium nitrate. Fires caused by the initial explosions continued to burn uncontrolled throughout the weekend, repeatedly causing secondary explosions, with eight additional explosions occurring on 15 August. Photographs and videos showed extensive destruction in and around the warehouse compound with a enormous crater at the blast site. The building of seven more surrounding logistics companies were destroyed, and large quantities of intermodal container stacks were toppled and thrown by the farces of the explosions.

21

CONTEXT ANALYSIS

SITE CONTEXT As the impact of the explosion is enormous, 60 hectares of the site was completely destroyed. Residential areas close to the site are also severely damaged. Due to the volatilization and permeation of toxic substances, plants on the site wither away and died. Till 5th Febrary 2017, 19,000 m3 polluted soil was removed and backfilled with urban soil. The water on the site has been completely drained. All damaged containers and buildings have been removed. Now the site is clean enough for further design and utilize.

MASTER PLAN OF BATON ROUGE CLEARLAKE COMMUNITY

Academic Work 78.3 Acres / 31.7 Hectares Sep, 2016 to Nov, 2016

Mission Statement: Develope a new vision for a safer and more beautiful community. Intro Statement: In August 2016, prolonged rainfall resulted in catastrophic flooding in the state of Louisiana; thousands of houses and businesses were submerged. Louisiana's governor, John Bel Edwards, called the disaster a "historic, unprecedented flooding event" and declared a state of emergency. Many rivers and waterways, particularly the Amite and Comite rivers, reached record levels, and rainfall exceeded 20 inches (510 mm) in multiple parishes. Because numerous homeowners who were affected were without flood insurance, the federal government is providing disaster aid through the Federal Emergency Management Agency (FEMA). The flood has been called the worst US natural disaster since Hurricane Sandy in 2012. Thirteen deaths have been reported as a result of the flooding. The purpose of this project is to find a brand new residential community development strategy. Trying to find a solution to live in harmony with the flood Softwares: Adobe Photoshop, ArcGIS, AutoCAD, SketchUp.
