Novashaver
This was a teamwork project. We dismantled a ice shaver and rebuild a 3D model to understand the working process and mechanism.
3
We researched the mechanism of appliance and defined personas for redesign. What we tried to do in this project was make a design as reasonable as possible.
After dismantling ice shaver, we sketch for appliance redesign.
When I got a idea good enough I started to sketch again for detailed appearance.
In this step, I defined the accurate size and appearance.
4
5
There was the skethes and 3D models for product mechanism. It was pretty hard to make sure that if the mechanism worked successfully.
6
7
Video for introducing the mechanism and using steps.
1.Add ice cubes into the bottom part.
2.Twist ‘ Novashaver ‘ to power the motor.
3.Novashaver can fit all size of containers.
8
After working on paper and computer, I started to make a 1:1 model for exhibition. The making process could be separated into 4 steps.
1.Made two models with wood and PU form by lathe. 2.ABS shell was made by vacuume forming. 3.Cut a curve gap and filled it with PU foam. 4.Put putty and spray-painted on model.
9
Wood model, made by lathe, was the mold for vacuume forming. Because of parting line, I could made model more easily and precisely.
10
FongGu
By combining traditional chinese stamps and stools which were almost losted, I turned patterns into a real stool. In this project, i tried different materials to show my own ‘ orient style’.
This is a old fashioned. chinese chair. I found the model in a book and tried to rebuild this chair in a new way. I adjusted the picture by photoshop so that I could turn it into a stamp easily.
13
I made a small stamp and a prototype to check the appearance and the scale.
14
I asked a local graver to make a 1:1 carved board. I used it as a large stamp.
15
I brushed ink on the board and stamped on Shuan paper. But I found that Shuan paper was’nt strong enough. In the end, I used canvas to replace Shuan paper.
16
I got lots of abandoned cushion and sewed a canvas cover which was stamped.
I asked a carpenter to make a simple wood chair so that I could put the cover on it.
17
18
‘ Fong Gu ‘ presented a new way of combining two different culture objects. But actually, there were lots of details I’d miss, including the proccess and materials.
19
‘ FongGu ‘ means upright and independent. It combine two Chinese culture objecets and also Chinese spirit.

Disasterwork
I defined my toy as ‘ toy for adults ‘ and added stories into this toy. ‘ Toys for adults are good ways to share some ideas.’ I used clockwork which was a simple but useful mechanism as the power source.
To find out the working process of clockwork, I was asked to dismantle a clockwise toy.

25
‘ Disaterwork ‘ wants to show the relationship between disasters and countries. I chose two examples; U.S with tornado and Taiwan with earthquake.
Wind the toys and see how disasters damage countries.
26
Handmade toy parts: maps, mechanism.
27
Made with different materials, including aluminum, wood and plastic.

A beautiful day
‘ A beautiful day ‘ was wriiten by Coach from Taiwan in recent year. The lyric talked about traveling, partners and every beautiful days.
31
I thought that CD package design wasn’t just graphic design. I focused on materials and handmade process, hoping this design to be warm.
Handwriting fitted this song. I decided to put it on the cover. I didn’t want to use fonts from the Internet. So I asked my classmates to write down the name of this song and looked for the most appropriate one.
32
There are part of the graphic designs and prototypesfor this project.
33
34
I found a local tailor and asked her to embroider words on leather.
35
I used leather, paper and botton to show what I felt about this song.

Balin station
41
This was a interesting project about city culture. We found a old and small train station in Tainan county. What we had to do was keeping its original spirit and giving it vitality.
We visited Balin station twice. There was no staff in this station so that passengers had to get tickets from other stations. Only shuttle trains stoped in this station.

42
Because of poor station device and rare passengers, Balin station looked abandoned. But actually, there was a settlement full of traditional house and a huge temple near the station. So we decided to make Balin look different, hoping it could live again.

45
We redesigned Balin station and made a public art which symbolized home. It was combined of several traditional windows. We hoped it to provide warm and light for the passengers going home.

Taichung jazz festival poster
This is the draft of poster. I used images of jazz musician and Kalanchoe, the city flower of Taichung.
49
This poster was made for 2011 Taichung jazz festival. I was inspired by Chinese paper cut, trying to combine two styles of art.
I won the first prize with this poster. That was me and the poster projection in Taichung CMP block.
50
Snowflakes
51
My aesthetic feeling was trained through the process of creating three-dimensional work. I was asked to design wood clips by transforming existing images.
I chose snowflakes as my design object. Through observing shapes, I transformed snowflakes into a series of wood slips.
52
Lazybone
This was my first teamwork project. We focused on ‘ Cleaning for living ‘ and used KJ method to find out and define cleaning problems in daily life.
We observed the behaviors when people cleaned interior spaces. And we also researched mops and brooms, trying to combine user behaviors and experiences.
We designed a mechanism in the middle of Lazybone as its joint.
53
Lazybone gives lazy singles, students a simple cleaning way.
No more squat and stoop. Just wave your hand to clean the floor.
Pull the handle to collect and discard dirts into trash can.

Photographs
55
When I went out, I usually brought a camera with me. These pictures were records of my life in university. They were very meaningful to me.
