Enjoying yourself can be an education too We are hosting sports camps for children of all age groups and abilities to encourage excellence and high levels of enjoyment, no matter what they are doing. During school holidays we will be running high quality week-long football, rugby, fishing, golf, tennis, swimming and squash schools, focusing on practical skills, fitness and theoretical understanding. We can help youngsters improve how they perform on the pitch, on a court, a course or in the pool by promoting and encouraging a greater awareness of what they are doing. Your children will be coached by leading players and teachers in their respective fields, who will look to pass on their knowledge, experience and the top tips that made them high achievers and worthy role models.

14 : Kersewell Resort

We’re also hosting numerous seasonal and holiday camps throughout the year to actively involve your children, irrespective of age or interests. Our focus is on combining fun activities with serious learning - so your children can discover more about nature and the environment, whatever the time of the year. Camps include arts and crafts, nature studies, caring for animals, surviving in a forest, sailing and swimming - plus a whole of host of other activities as part of our extensive education and entertainment programme.

“Stand tall lads. Stand tall. Remember what Willie our coach told us. The bigger we stand, the smaller that goal becomes. His nerve will go and he’ll spoon it over the bar. Mark my words. Stand tall lads. He’s about to...” Simon, 12, football player, natural born leader of men, number 8

An 18-hole golf course to complement Scotland’s best designed by Sandy Lyle & Scott Macpherson We have a superb natural canvas at our disposal when it comes to creating a genuine masterpiece to add to the great golf courses that are synonymous with Scotland. Although essentially a parkland golf course, there are links influences throughout - from the extensive use of grasses common to Scotland’s links courses to well established natural wind breaks and the use of centuries old stone walling.

A golf test to challenge both the skills of a scratch golfer and the determination of a high handicapper, the course provides an amazing spectacle. Pristine raised tee boxes look down on winding, undulating and rolling fairways leading to immaculate greens set amongst 100 year old trees, water hazards and sand traps - all waiting to punish the errant shot. Our new Loch and estate-wide water system feeds key features like part island greens and fairway hazards and burns. Water will come into play on numerous holes.

16 : Kersewell Resort

Ancient stone walling will be reconfigured into the course to provide water feature edging and other course elements such as the tee box retaining walls to create a setting that is at one with nature. Without question, our signature hole will be the 18th, with its breathtaking 360 degree views and the promise of the 19th a few steps away to relive the highs and lows of what will always be a testing and unforgettable round of golf.

Sandy Lyle needs little introduction to golf fans. He has amassed a 28 victories in his time on the European and US PGA Tours, including winning the 1985 Open Championship at St Georges, the 1987 Players Championship, and the 1988 Masters at Augusta National. In addition he has won the European Order of Merit three times, and made five appearances in the Ryder Cup. This is the first time he has designed a course in the UK and he’s looking forward to the challenge. “This site is a great canvas to create a course that has the potential to rival, if not better, the finest inland courses in Scotland…so it was a easy and natural choice to say yes when I was asked if I wanted to be involved,” said Sandy. Sandy’s co-designer, Scott has been involved in golf course design for almost 20 years and has been laying out golf courses all over the world. He was the on-site architect for two courses in St Andrews, Scotland known as St Andrews Bay/Fairmont and has since worked with former touring professional Greg Turner at Oreti Sands in New Zealand (the southern-most links in the world), Millbrook (voted‘Best overseas Golf Resort in 2010) and currently at Royal Wellington Golf Club. His most recent project is the new ‘Colt Course’ at Close House in Newcastle, England, which opened in May 2011. Scott also wrote ‘St Andrews, The Evolution of the Old Course’, in 2007, which has since been described as ‘the definitive book on the Old Course’.

A commitment to the environment influences everything we do The environment is important to all our futures and our commitment extends to everything we do within the resort - from having clearly defined car free zones to encouraging recycling at every opportunity. We have a collective responsibility to reduce our carbon footprint and we’re eagerly accepting the challenge on your and our behalf. Our resort suites are built to high sustainable standards within a resort that makes extensive use of natural features and existing materials. We are complementing the existing topography with the planting of 10,000 seedlings, chosen not only for their locational suitability but also for their carbon emission reducing properties. We will be carefully husbanding energy and heat use across the resort and, wherever possible, we will use alternative energy sources to carbonbased fuels. Naturally, we are recycling waste as much as possible with minimum reliance on landfill.

32 : Kersewell Resort

A team of dedicated environmental specialists will look after the environment. They are all willing and keen to interact with guests and their children to share their experiences of working closely with nature. All our environmental activities will be monitored independently to ensure we reach the highest possible standards. We’ll be reporting on our achievements in our annual review. A concern for the environment is just one of our wider ecological, sociological and economic responsibilities to you, our local communities and to Scotland.
