Netherlands 2 (D. de Haan, D.Dekker) England 2 (E.Way, E.Kimber) Netherlands were the better team in the opening half taking a early lead via D de Haan. England pushed them hard and earned a corner, which was struck home by E.Way. England then went ahead again via E.Kimber, a stunning reverse slap that the keeper had no chance of getting to. A very determined Dutch team came out following the break and pushed England hard with chances going wide and hitting the bar it had all the hallmarks of a game that could slip away from them, but they pressed hard and earned a corner which D.Dekker. The last 10 minutes saw pressure being applied by both teams, but 2-2 stood at the final whistle. England’s coach Jody Paul said that he felt his team started poorly but then sorted it out and played really well in the second half “We were full value and should have gotten one more goal. Our chat at half time was keeping positive and we played much better in the second half. The Dutch pressed us hard.” He admitted that England had too many turnovers and that’s not something that you can do against a side like The Netherlands. Overall the Dutch could have won and whilst he wasn’t overly pleased with the draw he was happy with the improved performance of his young team. ins 3, J. de Geus 2) Italy 1 (N.Missaglia) The Netherlands opened the game with a beautiful run from D. De Vilder but it took until the 10th minute for an impressive deflection from D. de Haan, who appeared on the backpost with perfect timing to deflect in for Netherlands first goal. Immediately Italy won possession and N Missaglia fired home in the 11th minute to equalise. However a more skilled and very focused Netherlands added 6 before the half. Stunning goals came from de Vilder and Beins from the PC set pieces and the final 2 field goals were well worked team goals. Italy’s defence worked hard to stop the flow, but the quality of the Dutch team was a tough ask today. Dutch coach Bas of his teams performance “It’s always difficult to play so early in the morning, but the boys did very well.” As goal difference might have been a feature to determine the pool he added that they would have to wait to see what happens in the England v Spain game but all they could do was “focus on our own game”. Taking about the ‘rising star’ in Daniel de Haan who scored another 3 goals he added that “He’s doing really well, he works hard, it’s a tough job as a forward player, you have to fight for the space and he’s finding his shape now.” On the ‘rumour’ abounding in Cork that none of the other teams wanted to mark him, he smiled and said that he’s strong and really really fast so it’s difficult for defenders, in addition he has really good skills! http://video214.com/play/k5dWxgCTEAOXJGQvvrUvdA/s/dark Team Minute Shirt # Player Action Score Netherlands10 7 de HAAN DanielField Goal 1–0 Italy11 17 MISSAGLIA Nicola Field Goal 1–1 Netherlands13 10 de VILDER DerckPenalty Corner 2 – 1 Netherlands15 7 de HAAN DanielField Goal 3–1 Netherlands18 3 BEINS TeunPenalty Corner 4–1 Netherlands23 3 BEINS TeunPenalty Corner 5–1 Netherlands26 6 de GEUS JonasField Goal 6–1 Netherlands35 7 de HAAN DanielField Goal 7–1 Netherlands40 10 de VILDER DerckPenalty Corner 8 – 1 Netherlands52 3 BEINS TeunPenalty Corner 9–1 Netherlands56 6 de GEUS JonasField Goal 10 – 1 Netherlands70 10 de VILDER DerckField Goal 11 – 1

U18 EuroHockey Championships Boys – Netherlands To Play Germany In The Final 29th July 2016: Another full day of hockey here in Cork with much at stake for the teams – medal games and attempts to stay

in the top division of the EuroHockey Championships. Semi-Final Netherlands 3 – 3 (1 – 2) (4 – 3 SO) Belgium The Belgians started the game with huge intensity and went ahead vis L.Sidler in the 4th minute. Mathieu Weyers drove along the left and completed a lovely pass to Sidler. He finished it off with a slap into the top corner. Netherlands replied in the 8th minute via D. de Vilder. For 15 minutes the score remained 1-1 but then a deflected corner from E.Devis put Belgium back in front. The score stayed 2-1 to Belgium at the half. The second half was full of drama! Another deflected corner and Netherlands were back on level terms in the 51st minute, deflected in by S.Schoenaker. In the 54th minute Belgium took the lead for the 3rd time but once again the boys in Orange equalised from a turnover ball. It resulted in the 1st shoot-out of the tournament. And what a Shoot Out! Both teams missed their 1st attempt, but from then on it was superb goal after superb goal . Especially the shoot-out by Emile Esquelin which will be well remembered, the Belgian lobbed the keeper and waited with baited breath as the ball sailed through the air and finally landed in the goal. The Dutch keeper played really well and contributed to the final score of 4-3 and a final place for the Dutch boys. Germany Are U18 EuroHockey Men’s Champions 30th July 2016: After 20 games we have a new EuroHockey Champion, Germany Final: Germany 4 (R Hartkopf 2, J Schiffer, L Harms) Netherlands 3 (D de Vilder 2, S Schoenaker) Germany won an epic penalty corner shoot-out to win the boys EuroHockey Youth Championships title ahead of the Netherlands as their first half work was never caught by the orange tide. Despite all the goals coming from set pieces, this was a match full of flair and technical wizardry, the dribbling skills on display a joy to watch in an intense affair, enjoyed by a large crowd at the Mardyke. Leopold Harms got the ball rolling in the 16th minute with a low drag-flick; Raphael Hartkopf got the second, sliding in to deflect Paul Doesch’s low push into the goal. Siem Schoenacker got one back when a corner move was blocked but the Dutch recovered before working the ball into the centre and he flicked in. Jan Schiffer – who ended as tournament top goalscorer with nine goals – restored the two-goal advantage, though, on the half hour with another direct drag-flick to the right corner, 3-1 at half-time. And Germany were in dreamland when Hartkopf picked up a rebound and pushed in the fourth goal. The Netherlands summoned a big sprint in the final quarter as they looked to grab a famous comeback. Captain Derck de Vilder got one back with a low bullet of a corner for 4-2 with 11 minutes to go and they had their chances to get another on the board – especially when Germany were reduced to nine players. But the only chance that stuck was a penalty stroke on the final second, converted by de Vilder. Germany were already celebrating, however, and despite the concession they were already racing to hug each other in the throes of victory.
