TOGETHER, WE CAN BUILD ANYTHING We’re excited to share that our 2022 Built Together program is officially open for applications! Built Together is a Community Impact led program that offers $50,000 grants to fund infrastructure projects designed to foster active living. Grants are awarded to projects in one of each of the following areas: Edmonton, Calgary, a secondary city, a rural community and an Indigenous community.
GET TO KNOW OUR 2021 BUILT TOGETHER RECIPIENTS Last year, we received 102 applications for a wide variety of initiatives from all regions and corners of the province. Originally planned to provide four grants, we were able to support a fifth deserving community project.
EDMONTON’S ST. ANNE CATHOLIC ELEMENTARY SCHOOL PLAYGROUND REDEVELOPMENT
RYLEY’S SCHOOL PLAYGROUND REDEVELOPMENT
The 50-year-old St. Anne Catholic School, located in north Edmonton, has never had a playground. Alberta Blue Cross is honoured to help them build their first playground that will hopefully create lasting memories for its students
Recently, the Ryley school district closed a nearby elementary school, changing Ryley School from a grade seven to 12 school to a kindergarten to grade 12 school. As the school used to serve older children, they did not have a playground for the new younger students. Alberta Blue Cross is excited to change this reality.
CALGARY’S FOREST LAWN COMMUNITY ASSOCIATION COMMUNITY MEETING SPACE AND PARK
ELIZABETH MÉTIS SETTLEMENT SKATE PARK
Rooted in cultural inclusivity, this project is revitalizing an abandoned green space in the heart of the Forest Lawn neighbourhood. In the spirit of Reconciliation, the space will also include a Truth and Reconciliation central fire pit that is being designed in collaboration with Elders.
SPRUCE GROVE’S PRESCOTT LEARNING CENTRE INCLUSIVE PLAYGROUND DEVELOPMENT
Located in Northern Alberta, the Elizabeth Métis Settlement has no infrastructure for youth. It is our hope that their new skate park will support the youth’s mental and physical health in ways they are not currently being supported.
Read about more about the other numerous projects we've supported across the province, with a funding total of $1.85 million.
Prescott Learning Centre has more than 800 students and no playground. We’re excited to change that by helping them build a new inclusive playground.
